This new platform is app based enabling you to access it from your smartphone or tablet.
Introducing our new parental engagement platform called RS ConnectEd
This new platform is app based enabling you to access it from your smartphone or tablet.
• The app can be downloaded straight away to view information about the school including Key dates and the latest school news.
• You will be asked to enter your mobile number to authenticate your device (this will have to be the mobile number you have given the school so the system can check your details with our records).
• You will then be sent an individual security code via text message to authenticate your device. (This can take up to 24 hours to check with our records)
• Only people with Parental responsibility marked on our system will be able to view information about the student.
• You will then be able to view individual information about your Son, including attendance and achievement data, as well as school reports when they are published, and manage payments for lunches and trips.

playing games, learning about wildlife and trees,
building fires and students cooking + more
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner all provided (Plus
healthy snacks in between)

themselves to do something new

THE HOUSE SYSTEMStudents are placed in one of six houses, all related
to the history and location of Bishop’ Stortford:
Chantry, Dane, Meads,
Rhodes, Twyford and Waytemore
The main house events are: Rugby, Football, Music
festival, Sports day, Quiz, Drama and Debating with
many other events besides
Your son should be participating in some of these
events, they are not reliant on skill and are there to
encourage students to push themselves.

10 minutes everyday from 8.30-8.40am
30 minutes everyday from 3.00-3.30pm
Form time is directed and constructive.
Homework is not completed during Form time.

If your son has been in a one-to-one meeting
with his tutor, this is not something to be
concerned about.
Organisation
Must have a fully stocked pencil case plus a reading
book every day.
Must also bring any subject materials e.g. PE kit, DT
apron on the correct days.
Tutors carry out random equipment checks.
Detentions will ensue for lack of correct equipment
Parental Support
Check ShowMyHomework regularly.
Check homework is completed to a high
standard and proof read.
Look through exercise books.
Provide a quiet environment for home study.
Encourage participation of at least 2 extra-
curricular clubs per week.
Support your son in preparing for the day ahead.

learning and development.
Absence procedure: Any student absence must be reported by 8.30am on
each morning of absence, using our dedicated school
‘MyEd’ phone App.
The Absence Hotline can be found under the Messaging
Section of the App.
If unable to access the app, please call 01279
869555
Please give a brief, detailed description of the reason
of absence, reasons such as ill, poorly or unwell will be
unauthorised.
Appointments:
Please avoid making medical/ dental appointments
during school hours where possible.
In advance: write a letter to your son’s form tutor
explaining the date/ time/ reason for appointment.
Your son must have the letter signed by his form tutor
and present it to the teacher if leaving during a
lesson.
Your son must sign out via the main reception and
show the receptionist the signed letter.
Please collect your son from inside the main school
reception – he cannot leave alone.
