T he Minister of Health of Turkey, Dr. Fahrettin
Koca, received Saynab Abdi Moalim, the Wife
of the President of the Federal Republic of
Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo, in
his office on January 31, 2020.
At the meeting, the two parties discussed the past
and future support offered to Somalia by Turkey in
the field of healthcare and possible areas of bilateral
cooperation.

T he Minister of Health of Turkey, Dr. Fahrettin
Koca, received Leonie Claudine Lougue/
Sorgho, the Minister of Health of Burkina
Faso, and her delegation in his office on January 20,
2020. At the meeting, the parties discussed issues
such as the improvement of cooperation within the
scope of the “Agreement between the Government of
the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the
Republic of Burkina Faso on Cooperation in the field
of Health and Medicine” of October 3, 2019, and the
improvement of cooperation through International
Health Services Inc. on medicine, medical device,
health information systems, health investments and
service procurement, international patient treatment
and training of healthcare personnel.

office on January 9, 2020.

T he Minister of Health of Turkey Dr. Fahrettin
Koca, received Jama Abdullahi Mohamed, the
Ambassador of the Federal Republic
of Somalia to Ankara, in his office on January 9,
2020.
At the meeting, the two parties deliberated on the
treatment of Somalian patients and injured persons
and possible health-related areas of cooperation
between the two countries in the upcoming period.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged opinions on
international patient treatment, cooperation within
the scope of USHAŞ International Health Services
Inc. and possible health-related areas of cooperation
between the two countries in the upcoming period.

of the Republic of Korea and Italy in his office on January 23, 2020. At the meeting, the
parties discussed the Gaziantep City Hospital

Ankara, Massimo Gaiani, and the Ambassador
of the Republic of Korea to Ankara, Hong-ghi Choi,

the Leader of the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo
such as Turks in Kosovo, who are being treated
within the scope of the Agreement of 2009, treatment
of patients under the law no. 3359 and areas of
cooperation between the two countries through
USHAŞ International Health Services Inc.

Koca received Fikrim Damka, the Leader of
the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo,
and his delegation in his office on January 9, 2020.
At the meeting, the two parties discussed matters

Signing of the Protocol on the Transfer of Misurata Turkish-
Libyan Physical Therapy Center
Libyan MoH for six months with regard to the
opening and operation of the Center. All expenses
related to the administration and operation of the
Center will be covered by the Libyan MoH, while
personnel training and delivery of healthcare services
at the Center will be coordinated by the Turkish MoH
personnel. Based on the said Protocol, healthcare
personnel from the Ministry of Turkey were
scheduled to go to Misurata in February 2020 to
deliver trainings for staff and healthcare services at
the Center.
O n the matter of the transfer and operation of
the Misurata Turkish-Libyan Physical
Therapy Center to Libya, the Protocol on the
Transfer and Post-Transfer of the Misurata Turkish-
Libyan Physical Therapy Center was signed by the
MoH of Turkey, the MoH of Libya, and the Turkish
Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on
January 21, 2020. Within the scope of the Protocol,
the Center, which was built and equipped by TIKA,
will be transferred to the MoH of Libya free of charge
and after the transfer, the MoH of Turkey will offer
technical, training and personnel support to the

Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
visited the General-Directorate of EU and Foreign
Affairs on January 8, 2020 and had a meeting with

February 11, 2014, the cooperation through USHAŞ,
decreasing maternal and child deaths in the Gambia
and the invitation extended to the MoH of the
Gambia to the 3rd International Traditional and
Complementary Medicine (GETAT) Congress to be
held in Istanbul on April 1-3, 2020.
Visit of Roy Perrin Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy, to
the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs
R oy Perrin, Economic Counselor at
the U.S. Embassy visited the General
Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs on
January 17, 2020 and had a meeting with
Dr. Selami Kılıç, the General Director. The two
parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of
health.
A mbassador of the Gambia to Ankara,
Landing Kinten, and the Deputy Chief of
Mission, Sering Modou, paid a visit to the
General Directorate of EU and Foreign
Affairs and had a meeting with Dr. Selami Kılıç, the
General Director, in his office. At the meeting, the
two parties discussed matters with regard to the
treatment of 25 Gambian patients in Turkey within

the meeting, possible future areas of cooperation in
the field of health were discussed.

Government of National Accord of Libya
visited the MoH of Turkey on January 20,
2020 and met with representatives from the General

Committee of the World Health Organization
(WHO) was held on January 28-31, 2020 in Geneva,
Switzerland with the participation of the Members of
the Committee and Member States.
In the meeting, WHO's budget use for the past two
years and current budget allocation, human
resources and administrative affairs were presented
to Member States and discussed within the
framework of accountability. Representatives from
the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs
attended the meeting.

Project Cycle Management Training
A "Project Cycle Management (PCM) Training"
was held at the Meeting Hall of the General
Directorate of EU and Foreign Affairs on
January 7-10, 2020 with an aim to improve the
existing project-based working approach in the MoH,
to communicate the benefits of project-based working
and to be able to benefit from national and
international funds and grants, EU funds in
particular, at the utmost level.
In the said training, information with regard to the
history and institutional structure of the EU, Turkey-
EU relations and fields of responsibility of the MoH in
accession negotiations, European Union and national
project resources, the concept of project and project
cycle management were shared and issues to
consider were emphasized.
Project Planning Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases
Objectives of the 2020-2021 Biennial Collaborative Agreement (BCA) between the World Health Organization and the Ministry of
Health
A project planning meeting was held on non-
communicable diseases priorities identified in
the draft Agreement between the General
Directorate of Public Health and WHO within the
framework of the 2020-2021 Biennial
Collaborative Agreement (BCA) to be signed by the
World Health Organization and Ministry of Health of
Turkey. Experts from the General Directorate of EU
and Foreign Affairs participated in this meeting,
which took place on January 17, 2020.
G20 2020 1st Health Working Group Meeting
T he first Health Working Group Meeting under
the term presidency of Saudi Arabia took place
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 13-16,
2020. On the first day of the meeting, a panel on
value-based healthcare services was held.
The panel was followed by presentations from
international organizations on G20 2020's priority
areas namely, value-based healthcare services,
patient safety, digital health, antimicrobial resistance
and health safety, while member states shared their
experiences.
Preparations for the 6th Meeting of the Turkish-Turkmen
Intergovernmental Economic Committee (IEC)
In order to prepare for the said meeting,
representatives from the MoH of Turkey attended the
coordination meeting organized by the Deputy
President's Office on January 13, 2020.
Uzbekistan JEC Preparatory Meeting
I n the meeting held at the Presidential Palace on
January 10, 2020 on the Uzbekistan JEC, the
parties discussed about preparing an Action Plan
based on the measures, which are predicted within
the framework of the 2019 Turkish-Uzbek 5th Term
JEC Protocol, and following up on this Plan.
Furthermore, the relevant institutions were asked to
provide information about the actions they were
taking under the 5th Term Protocol and to propose
additional actions, if any.

Preparations for the 5th Meeting of the Turkish-Nigerian JEC
R epresentatives from the General Directorate of
EU and Foreign Affairs participated the
preparatory meeting held at the Ministry of
Trade on January 17, 2020 as a part of the
preparations for the 5th Meeting of the Turkish-
Nigerian JEC planned to take place in the upcoming
period.
Preparations for the 4th Meeting of the Turkish-Djiboutian JEC
T he 4th Meeting of the Turkish-Djiboutian JEC
will take place in Ankara on February 18-19,
2020. Representatives from the MoH of Tukey
attended the preparatory meeting held on
January 31, 2020 at the Ministry of Trade within the
framework of the preparations for the said JEC
meeting.
T he 6th Meeting of the Turkish-Turkmen
Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation
Committee (IEC) will be held in Ashgabat on
February 12-13, 2020.
