And being just twenty minutes away from the state capital in Little Rock brings many other opportunities – like the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the Arkansas Repertory Theater, Arkansas Arts Center and the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library. Cabot Chamber of Commerce Chamber ActivitiesDear Cabot Chamber Members,

I am please to welcome you personally to Cabot. The Cabot Chamber of Commerce

is comprised of businesses, professionals and volunteers whose mission is to provide leadership and quality of life for the City of Cabot and its surrounding areas. The Cabot Chamber of Commerce wants to set the standard for excellence with continued partnerships in our community in order to assist our businesses in growth, expansion

and retention. We feel a huge responsibility to serve our business community and honored to serve Cabot!

If you are a member of the Cabot Chamber, I strongly encourage you to get involved and participate in the activities that we host throughout the year. Our Cabot Chamber staff and volunteers are committed to building stronger relationships with our business community and work diligently to grow these partnerships throughout the city of Cabot and our region. With over 470 individual and business members, there are many opportunities available to become more involved and network with other local professionals. The Cabot Chamber provides business and professionals in our community the opportunity to gain exposure in the community through our events, programs and committees.

Today’s Healthcare in Cabot...ever-expanding in scope and quality

Cabot has been blessed to have a wealth of health care services available – from general practice physicians to dentists, pediatrics, vision care and

many more.Cabot Emergency Hospital opened its doors this year and is the first

micro-hospital in the state of Arkansas. Providing concierge-based emergency


care, the hospital open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Offering both inpatient and outpatients services, the facility features cutting edge technology including bedside ultrasound, digital radiology, CT scan, MRI and a comprehensive clinical lab.

For patients requiring addition care beyond the emergency room, the hospital offers suites for short term stays with all the comforts and amenities of home.

Close by, Unity Health, formerly White Country Medical Center in Searcy, has long been providing quality medical care to Cabot and the surrounding area. The hospital operates many quick-care clinics in and around Cabot.

Unity health collaborates with the Mayo Clinic and is the first hospitalin Arkansas to be accepted into the Mayo Clinic Network. This means that Unity Health can consult

with the Mayo Clinic experts when appropriate with no additional cost to the patient.

Other nearby medical facilities are Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, St. Vincent Medical Center and the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Center in Little Rock

Another excellent health organization close by is Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, the only pediatric medical center in Arkansas and is one of the largest hospitals in the United States. It is home to Arkansas’ only Burn Center.

CabotEducation“It’s about KIDS!” As one of the most sought-after districts

in Arkansas, Cabot Public Schools is dedicated to creating opportunities for academic and personal success to ensure all our students are prepared for the future. Our district, eighth largest in the state, encompasses much of northwest Lonoke County and includes the cities of Cabot, Austin, and Ward.

With exceptional test scores, remarkable faculty, and first class facilities, it is easy to see why so many new families, especially military families, join our district each year. In fact, our schools were the first in the state to be designated Purple Star Schools by the Arkansas Department of Education for their commitment to supporting and serving military families.

The district employs approximately 1,484 staffed employees with 804 being certified staff and 680 classified. From the certified staff, nearly half hold advanced degrees and 74 are National Board Certified.

Our students, teachers, and staff are consistently recognized for their

hard work in the classroom. Every year, our schools are awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in Recognition Program Funds from the state. Most recently, six of our schools received more than $270,000 in rewards for achieving high student academic growth, performance, and graduation rates.

Currently, more than 10,600 students are enrolled in grades Pre-K-12. The district is comprised of nine elementary schools (K-4), two nationally recognized Diamond Middle Schools (5-6), two junior high schools (7-8), a freshman academy (9), and a high school (10-12).

The Cabot School District is also home to the Academic Center of Excellence (ACE). ACE is our award-winning conversion charter school that offers a unique blended learning

environment and flexible schedules for students in grades seven to twelve. The ACE program is housed at two separate locations. Each location serves students similarly, but each location is unique. These programs offer flexible

schedules ranging from nine hours of required seat time per week at ACE to a full-time schedule at ACE North. In 2020, ACE received “Carolyn Pollan’s Highest Achieving Alternative Education Programs” Award. This award is based on scores from the spring 2018-2019 ACT Aspire exams. ACE achieved the highest composite growth in all four academic areas (English, Reading, Math, and Science) for a program that serves over 200 students.

Opportunities for students at Cabot Public Schools are endless. Students in all grade levels are challenged daily with exciting curriculum and real-world experiences.

At the Cabot Freshman Academy, a unique approach is offered. All CFA students, approximately 800 ninth graders, are enrolled in Pre-AP English 1 and Pre-AP Algebra 1 classes. The goal is to encourage student collaboration, critical thinking, and provide engaging activities. The pilot program is proving successful as teachers are seeing students excel, improved student engagement, and confidence. Pre-AP prepares students for high school, AP, and college-level courses. CFA’s motto is “Graduation Starts Here.” The number one goal is to provide incoming freshman with the foundation they need to succeed at Cabot High School. CFA’s focus on helping students is proving successful with 98.5% of students earning their credits for the last five years.

At Cabot High School, “Graduation Happens Here!” Faculty and staff are committed to providing a safe environment that promotes academic excellence. In 2019, Cabot High School was named Best High School in Central Arkansas by readers of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for the second year in a row.

“Zero Hour,” continues to prove successful at CHS. This schedule allows a built-in time for high school students to receive extra academic help, work on long-term projects, make-up tests and assignments, and complete other work from absences. All teachers are in their classroom beginning at 7:50 a.m. ready to work with students.

Cabot High School is also proud to offer a vast array of Career and Technical programs which include agriculture, auto technology, AFJROTC, broadcasting, business, construction, criminal justice, Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST), engineering, Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG), and our medical academy. That’s over 80 courses that help prepare students for their future career.

High school students also have the option to choose from more than

160 electives, including our award-winning forensics, debate, theater, dance, stagecraft, choir, and marching band. In fact, Cabot’s Fine Arts program is recognized as one of the exemplary comprehensive programs in the state.

Our district also offers a unique opportunity for students to join the AP Academy, emphasizing critical and creative problem solving, effective communication, and community service. In 2019, over 400 students graduated having received credit from Advanced Placement courses and concurrent credit college


courses taken at the high school level. Students are offered over 160 hours of college credit opportunities. Furthermore, over the last five years, Cabot High School has produced 42 National Merit Semifinalists and every year, our graduating seniors receive millions of dollars in scholarships.

Students also participate in a dynamic athletic program. Cabot athletes compete in the 6A/7A Central Conference, the largest conference in the state. Cabot has 81 teams in fifteen competitive fields of sport. Our athletic teams perform at the highest level proven by the number of conference and state titles our student athletes receive each year. The Cabot School District employs five highly-experienced athletic trainers. Our Sports Medicine Program is nationally-recognized and our athletic trainers mentor other districts in implementing this curriculum in schools across the state.

Cabot High school is proud to be a Special Olympics Unified Champion School. This special honor is a result of meeting national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and respect. CHS joins a list of National Banner schools around the country who have achieved this distinguished status.

In January of 2020, the district began offering virtual primary health services to students at Ward Central Elementary, Westside Elementary, and to all district staff members and their families. The goal of having school-based telehealth services is to help reduce absences due to illness and serve as a valuable resource to some of our students who would not normally have access to primary care. The program is expected to expand to other schools in the future.

During the 2019-2020 school year, the district launched a new initiative where all students, Pre-K-12th grade, are offered free breakfast. This allows our more than 10,000 students to enjoy a nutritious breakfast each morning at no cost to parents. This is making a positive impact on our students and helping them flourish throughout the year.

Our district is always seeking ways to improve communication with parents. Nearly 15,000 students, parents, and patrons are taking advantage of our Cabot Public Schools App. The app features school news, a calendar of upcoming school events, access to our Panther Tip Line and social media outlets (@cabotsd for Twitter and Cabot Public School District for Facebook). Parents have the ability to check grades, attendance, and view students’ class assignments. Parents are notified of school closings, events, meetings, etc., through an automated phone system, email, text, social media, app notification, and the district website.

Cabot Public Schools could not be successful without the support of our Cabot School Board. The commitment of our board, district administration, dedicated teachers, school support groups, parental involvement, and support from the local business community and the city of Cabot, combine to make the district an excellent choice for parents that desire a great educational experience for their family.

Located just eight miles north of the base, Cabot’s appeal to the men and women stationed at the base include the city’s numerous

established neighborhoods, hometown atmosphere and the award-winning Cabot School District, one of Arkansas’ highest ranked school districts.

Nearly 20% and active duty members reside in Cabot as do more than 30% of civil service employees.

One of the reasons for the close relationship Is the Air Force Base Community Council which was formed to assist local governments and the citizenry to solve problems of mutual interest and to provide continuity in working with local governments.

The LRAFB Community Council has won the Air Education and Training Command’s (AETC) prestigious ALTUS Award for being the best Community Support Group of an AETC wing. This is possibly the first time a tenant wing has won it rather than a host wing.

The Support Team Little Rock has also won two other awards this year- AMC’s Abilene Award for Best Community Support and also is recognized as a “Great American Defense Community by the Association of Defense Communities.

The base itself encompasses 6,100 acres and includes more than 50 aircraft, making it home to significant percentage of the total U. S. Air Force C-130’s. More than 7,000 active-duty, Air National Guard, Reserve and civilian members, and approximately 5,000 family members live and work on or around the base. An estimated 57,000 retirees live in the region.

Little Rock Air Force Base is known as the “Home of the C-130 Combat Airlift.” The base has five major command relationships with three wings: The 19th Airlift Wing (Air Mobility Command), the 314th Airlift Wing (Air Education and Training Command), the 189th Airlift

Wing (Air National Guard), the 913th Airlift Group (Air Force Reserve Command) and the 29th Weapons Squadron (Air Combat Command). $596 million. Additionally, the base is the seventh largest employer in Arkansas and indirectly created about 2,850 jobs, with a value of more than $308 million.

Over the years, the citizens of Cabot and the Air Force Base have developed a special kinship and all involved are constantly working on ways to make the quality of life here the best available.

The men and women who serve at the Little Rock Air Force Base have come to

enjoy all that Cabot has to offer. The Base’s Community Council has played

a big part In that success.

The hub of it all is the Veteran’s Park Community Center. With heated swimming and therapy pools, basketball courts and

a walking track. There’s cardio equipment as well and fully accessible locker rooms, a wide variety of aerobic classes, personal training as well as many other amenities and programs. Cabot Parks and Recreation facilities, programs and activities have always been a part of the lifestyle Cabot’s residents have come to enjoy.

The Cabot Event Center is directly adjacent to the Community Center and is designed to fit the needs of any event from lavish weddings, business seminars, training events to professional trade shows and fundraising events. The 9,000 square foot hall can be subdivided into half and quarter rooms and includes a catering kitchen, lobby area, rest rooms and a spacious welcome lobby.

Our two most popular spots during the warmer months are the Cabot Sports Plex and the Cabot Aquatic Park.

The Cabot Sports Plex features nine fully-lit baseball fields with two fields recently updated to turf fields and includes batting tunnels, pavilions, a concession plaza and a state-of-the-

art playground. There are also two fully-lit football fields complete with

a concession building and plenty of parking for the entire family to come out and support your team!

The Cabot Aquatic Park is a perfect spot to spend the warm summer days and offers attractions for all ages. Whether you want to experience the thrill of the water slides, the excitement of the play pool or relax in the lazy river, there is something for everyone. With a full-service concession stand, locker rooms and a number of party rental areas, the Complex has become a Cabot favorite as well as surround areas!

The various Cabot parks are a great for gathering, playing and spending time with your loved ones. In addition, we opened our first all-inclusive playground at the Richie Road Park and it has quickly become one of our most visited parks. together. The park also includes a baseball complex, covered pavilions and a skate park.

The Community Pond Park features a stocked fishing pond, walking tail, pavilions and an 18-hole disc golf course. The Richie Road Park features two covered pavilions, a large playground and three lighted baseball fields. Fairlen Ward Memorial Park includes a playground area, walking path and single-family pavilion. The Allman/Bevis Sports Complex has six softball fields and four of them have recently been updated to turf fields, a walking trail and playgrounds and pavilions. Cabot also offers a new dog park that opened in 2019 and has both small and large dog areas.

Our 4th of July Celebration is a free event that’s fun for the entire family and includes live music, great food, fun and games and ends with a remarkable firework display! Cabot’s Celebrate the Season is a large vendor shopping event held on the third Saturday each November with unique vendors from across the state! This event is also free with the donation of three non-perishable food items and the items are donated to Cabot Public Schools to send home with children in need over the Christmas holiday. Its location on US Highway 67/167, a four-lane divided interstate-quality highway, provides easy access from both north and south. City and County Taxes Property Tax: The state of Arkansas does not have a property tax. However, Arkansas cities and counties do collect a property tax, which is the principal source of revenue used to fund the states’ public school districts. The tax is calculated based on 20% of the fair market value of real and personal property and the average annual value of merchants stocks and/or manufacturers inventories. The millage rate established by individual school districts is used to compute the amount of the tax.

Cabot WaterWorks has secured adequate water supply through most of the twenty first century. Cabot recently completed construction of a 9 MGD pipeline to Central Arkansas Water. We have additional long term capacity planned from Greers Ferry and DeGray lakes. Our current ground water well fields will be retained for a long term emergency backup supply. Cabot WaterWorks has a new state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility with capacity well into the twenty first century. Cabot WaterWorks maintains strategic water and wastewater master plans to accommodate immediate and long term growth.
