Ten Things I Hate About Me is by Randa abdel-Fattah. In the book Jamie hides her cultural background at school. She runs into a problem when she is suppose to play her traditional Australian drum at her own 10th grade formal. She realizes that she has to be faithful to her culture and let people get to know the real Jamie.
Ten Thing I Hate About Me
In the end of Ten Things I Hate About Me Jamie is thinking about how she likes her traditional foods. She remembers when she brought Australian food to a school event and no one would touch it. She realizes that if she likes it and it is part of her culture that it shouldn’t matter if others like it.
How it relates
A meat pie is a hand-sized pie filled with minced meat and gravy. It can also have onions, mushrooms, and cheese in it. A meat pie is often consumed as a take away snack. They also have vegan meat pies with soy protein instead of meat.

ANZAC biscuits are sweet and popular in both Australia and New Zealand. ANZAC biscuits have long been associated with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. These biscuits are made with oats, flour, coconut, sugar, butter, and golden syrup. The biscuits don’t spoil fast and are now made commercially and can be bought.

Vegemite is a dark brown paste made from yeast extract. Vegemite is put on sandwiches, toast, crackers and more. Vegemite is said to be salty and kind of bitter and the texture is smooth and sticky.

Pavlova is a dessert. The filling of a pavlova is like a meringue. The crust is crunchy. Cornstarch gives the meringue a marshmallow texture and id the defining feature to the pavlova. The pavlova will most likely be topped with fruit.
