Instructions for using pH and redox combination electrodes Storage1
pH and redox combination electrodes are stored in this medium which is filled in the reference system of the sensor. It is 3 mol/l or saturated KCl solution which is in the watering cap. pH and redox combination electrodes must never be stored in deionised water.
Calibration1
1. Rinse the sensor with deionised water. 2. Immerse the sensor in the buffer solution that the diaphragm is wetted completely. 3. Be sure that the sensor and the buffer have taken the same temperature value. 4. Rinse the sensor with deionised water before changing to the next buffer.
Dispose the used buffer solution. Pay attention to the manual of the sensor and the measuring instrument.
Cleaning1
Clean diaphragm, glass membrane or platinum disc of the sensor with water and dap it dry with a paper towel. Oily and organic contamination: Rinse the sensor with ethanol. Protein contamination: Immerse the sensor in pepsin cleaning solution that the diaphragm is
wetted completely. After cleaning rinse the sensor with deionised water and put it in its storage solution. Before the next measurement calibrating is necessary.
Reconditioning1
pH combination electrodes with decreasing slope and a slow response time can be reconditioned with a special solution. The glass membrane of the sensor is immersed for 2 minutes in maximum in the reconditioning solution. The diaphragm must never be wetted. After that the sensor is rinsed with deionised water and kept in its storage solution for 1 hour. Before the next measurement calibrating is necessary.
1 The order code for storage, buffer, cleaning and reconditioning solutions is printed on page 33.

Meinsberg electrodes for laboratory and process • Electrochemical sensors are developed and manufactured in
Meinsberg (Saxony/Germany) for more than 65 years.
• The innovative team of experienced chemists, design engineers, technicians and glassblowers realises high reliability, flexibility and quality.
• This catalogue presents our standard range of sensors for measuring pH value, redox potential, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, chlorine and temperature for application in laboratory and process.
• In the first part of the catalogue you find sensors for measuring in laboratory which are configured individually. These laboratory electrodes are available with plug or cable connection. Furthermore cable length and cable plug can be chosen. The order key for the different sensors (reference electrodes, pH and redox combination electrodes, conductivity cells and oxygen sensors) is illustrated in the folding book cover.
• In the second part of the catalogue you find sensors which are designed for online measurements in process. These process electrodes are always equipped with a plug connector with thread PG 13.5 for easy mounting in immersion or flow through housings. The order codes are shown in chapter “process electrodes” below the sensor pictures.
• On the following pages (2-5) the most important electrodes for laboratory and process with technical data and application advices are listed.
