Melbourne Visitor Booth in the Bourke Street MallFriendly volunteers at the Melbourne Visitor Booth provide free maps and information on shopping, attractions and events in Melbourne.

City AmbassadorsDressed in their distinctive red uniforms, City Ambassadors provide a mobile information service in the city with information on shopping, events and how to get around.

Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, Sunday noon to 3pm (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Melbourne Greeter ServiceFree multilingual walking orientations of the city, conducted by trained volunteers. Orientations are conducted in English daily at 9.30am from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Bookings are essential, phone 9658 9658 on weekdays and 9658 9942 on weekends or visit melbourne.vic.gov.au/greeter.

Melbourne Visitor ShuttleThe Melbourne Visitor Shuttle is a great way to see Melbourne’s attractions, stopping at 13 key destinations around the city. A round trip takes approximately 90 minutes and includes an informative on-board audio commentary. It runs every 30 minutes between 9.30am to 4.30pm every day (excluding Christmas Day). Tickets are available from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square or from ticket machines located at each stop.

A daily pass on the shuttle costs $5, except for children under the age of 10 who travel free. For more information visit melbourne.vic.gov.au/shuttle.

With more than 1,400 train services and 600 coach services every week, V/Line is a great way to travel around Victoria. V/Line is Australia’s largest regional public transport operator.

TRAVELLING TO REGIONAL VICTORIA

mykiV/Line commuter trains have made the switch to myki, Victoria’s new smart card ticketing system. A myki is the only ticket you need on Melbourne’s trains, trams and buses, as well as town buses in some regional areas.

V/Line’s growing fleet of modern VLocity trains can get you where you want to go in comfort at up to 160 km/h. Road SafetyIf you are not familiar with driving in Victoria, make sure you follow these road rules:

» In Australia, cars travel on the left hand side of the road.

» Speed is in km/h and speeding is illegal. Heavy fines are imposed if you are caught above the limit.

» Seat belts are compulsory in front and back seats. Children must be harnessed in a safety restraint.

» Drivers are required to carry a license at all times. International driving licenses are acceptable for up to three months, however you will require a Victorian license after this period.

EastLink TollwayEastLink is a 39 kilometre automated tollway that connects the Eastern, Monash, Frankston and Peninsula Link freeways.

There are no cash tollbooths on CityLink or EastLink so to pay the tolls you must either open an account before you travel or buya pass. An account works on both CityLink and EastLink.

SkyBusSkyBus is a cost effective and easy to use bus service that runs express between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne’s city centre, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport right to the city centre. SkyBus is not a myki ticketed service.
