Message from Sam

If elected in March 2018, a Liberal Government will implement a comprehensive program to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students, with the benefit to be most profound for those students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

We want our schools to lead the nation, and for our students to be the beneficiaries of the best education system in Australia.

While many of our schools, and our teachers, are doing an excellent job, the latest NAPLAN results ranked South Australia last or second last in 16 out of 20 NAPLAN categories.

The State Liberal Party is committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students, and our Literacy Guarantee is a positive step to improving the quality of South Australia’s education system.

To find out more about our Literacy Guarantee please visit www.samduluk.com.au or contact my office.

The Literacy Guarantee program will comprise:

• Literacy coaches with expertise in phonics & teaching students with learning difficulties

• Phonics checks for all Year One students across South Australia

• Free dyslexia workshops for parents across the state

• New parental engagement resources for schools and families

• Support for breakfast programs in every school that needs one

Glenthorne National Park will:

• Create an environmental and recreational community asset

• Preserve this unique green belt for future generations

• Protect our natural heritage: stunning landscapes, native wildlife and roaming bushland

• Become a tourist destination, attracting interstate and overseas visitors

• Cover 1,500 hectares (more than Belair National Park)

A Liberal Government will bring together a number of parcels of land in Adelaide’s southern suburbs to form Adelaide’s second metropolitan National Park.

This proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to preserve and revitalise a significant portion of existing open space and turn it into a thriving environmental and recreational precinct.

The new National Park would include Glenthorne Farm (208 hectares of open space which is currently not accessible to the public); O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park; Marino Conservation Park; Hallett Cove Conservation Park; Happy Valley Reservoir and the Field River Valley.

South Australia has a beautiful natural environment which the State Liberal Party is committed to protecting, thus ensuring that our wildlife and vegetation corridors are preserved. To find out more about Glenthorne National Park please visit www.glenthorne.com.au or contact my office.

Investment in the Mitcham Hills road network is desperately needed to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety for residents and commuters, and mitigate risk in the event of a bushfire.

Whilst the proposed funding to improve the Blackwood roundabout announced in the 2017/18 Budget is an important first step in this investment, a future Marshall Liberal Government will deliver additional infrastructure improvements for the Mitcham Hills by:

Continuing to consult with the Mitcham Hills community, taking into account all modes of transport: rail freight, cars, buses, commuter trains, bicycles and pedestrians.

Adopting key recommendations of the Road Management Plan (RMP) prepared by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) in 2015.

Working with the City of Mitcham to prioritise road safety upgrades throughout the Mitcham Hills road network, especially Coromandel Parade and parking in the Blackwood shopping precinct.

Dear Resident,

I am writing to you concerning changes to South Australia’s electoral boundaries that will take effect at the next State election on 17 March, 2018.

The Electoral Districts Boundaries Commission, chaired by the Honourable Justice Ann Vanstone, completed a review of the electoral boundaries last year, releasing its final report on 7 December, 2016.

What does it mean for you?

The electoral boundaries in the Mitcham Hills have been altered significantly. Most suburbs will shift into the electorate of Waite, a small section joins the electorate of Black, whilst only three suburbs will remain within the new boundaries of Davenport.

The new electorate of Waite is comprised of the suburbs of Belair, Blackwood, Brownhill Creek, Coromandel East, Coromandel Valley, Crafers West, Craigburn Farm, Eden Hills, Glenalta, Hawthorndene, Kingswood, Lynton, Mitcham, Netherby, Springfield, Torrens Park, Upper Sturt (portion) and Urrbrae.

The new electorate of Davenport is comprised of the suburbs of Aberfoyle Park, Bedford Park, Bellevue Heights, Chandlers Hill, Cherry Gardens, Flagstaff Hill and Happy Valley (portion).

State Election 2018

In January 2015, I was privileged to be elected to the South Australian Parliament as the Member for Davenport.

The new boundaries have not only moved a large proportion of my constituency into the electorate of Waite, but also my home and electorate office in Blackwood. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to represent the Mitcham Hills in the new seat of Waite beyond 2018 and maintain my efforts to address the needs of our community.

Mr Steve Murray has been endorsed as the Liberal Candidate for Davenport. Steve lives locally with his family in Happy Valley and is committed to being a strong local voice for the community.

Steve was the founding CEO of carsales.com and is a director of various software companies. I know that Steve has the leadership skills and experience to represent the electorate of Davenport. He is eager to hear from you so please do not hesitate to contact him if he can be of assistance at [email protected].

Regards,

Sam Duluk MP
