Steve Jobs once said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” It’s amazing what people can accomplish when they put their energy into something.

Once again the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce will partner with Leadership Evergreen to honor some special people. People who put an amazing amount of effort into our community, not for money

but for love. Nominations were gathered, online votes were tallied, personal interviews conducted and the selection is taking place to find out who will be recognized as Leader, Nonprofit, Young Professional, Volunteer, Ambassador and Youth of 2017. The passion and support brought to our world through the efforts and dedication of each and everyone one of our nominees deserves a special mention. Without their contributions to the fabric of our community our world would be drastically different. The nominees are:

Great Job West Jeff Elementary & Mountain Resource Center!

Colorado Students Raise $15,000 To Send Girl On Dream Disney Vacation

Through their Make-A-Wish foundation called “Wish Week” the student government at Evergreen High School raised over $15,000 to send Divine, a 4 year old girl, to Disney. Make-A-Wish foundation is a wonderful organization that grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. By fundraising for the organization, Evergreen students are able make a difference in numerous children’s lives by making their dreams come true. Instead of just making school about the academics, Wish Week gives students the chance to give back to their community.

With the help of the West Jefferson Elementary School 5th grade students the Mountain Resource Center was able to raise over $500 worth of product for the food bank. Students in all grades had the opportunity to come to a student-created carnival with games and fun if they brought in a personal item to donate to the Mountain Resource Center Food Bank. Way to go West Jeff Students. Amazing job helping the community and having fun at the same time!
