Abantia has continued to grow in 2012, reaching a
consolidated turnover of 283 million euros, representing
a 6.8% growth compared to 2011 after deducting
the activities in Poland that have been discontinued.
Disregarding this effect, the growth was 1.3%.
As for the profit before taxes this has been of 5.9 million
euros, representing a decrease of 23% compared to 2011.
These results have been possible thanks to the growth in the
number of international business that has been of a 20% to
exceed 72 million euros, which represents 26% of the total.
In 2012 we ceased activity in Poland and Abu Dhabi, as
we have implemented in Peru, where we gained contracts
in the Oil & Gas sector and mining in Chile, where we are
positioning solar plants, as well as in Colombia. We have
also contracted a hospital in Haiti managed by UNOPS and
funded through Canadian funds.
We continue to operate in Central America where we
automate factories for the private sector and we are
building two hospitals financed by the IDB. In Mexico our
subsidiary DCSM, with over 25 years of history, continues
to grow and has hired more than 28 million euros in the
year. We also remain in France through our subsidiary
T-Cuento and in Qatar through Abantia Tempo.
As for human resources workforce there were 2,022 people
at the end of 2012, 12.5% less than in 2011. We have also
implemented later this year an overheads saving plan to
allow us to reduce this issue by 15% in 2013. All of this in
order to try to regain lost profitability.
Also, to highlight the implementation of the CSP plant,
hybridized with biomass “Termosolar Borges” in the
province of Lleida. This plant of 25 MW is highly innovative
as it is the first of its kind in the world. Unfortunately, the
legislation governing the income of such plants has been
changed retroactively, compromising the internal rate of
return on this investment in which Abantia has a 47.5%
stake.
In summary, 2012 was a year of ups and downs largely
influenced by the difficult environment in which we
operate. Ups in international growth and reducing costs,
and downs in profitability by decreasing conditioned
by increased competition in Spain, the learning process
in other countries involves greater risk and retroactive
government action against renewables.

PROMOTION AND INTEGRATED PROJECTS
Photovoltaic projects
Abantia group is developing three contiguous photovoltaic projects in Chile of 21 MW, 7.5 MW and 30 MW in the province of Huasco, in the Atacama region, with a total investment for implementation of about 120 million dollars.
The group also analyzes in this country the viability of other solar projects, both photovoltaic and thermo solar.
In Central America we analyze the viability of solar projects and improving energy efficiency in power generation.
EPC project
In Spain Abantia group has completed the construction and commissioning of Guzman thermo solar plant, thermo solar power plant of 50 MW located in Palma del Río (Córdoba), officially opened in October.
At the end of the year we completed the testing phase of synchronization of power generation
turbine and Borges thermo solar plant, located in Les Borges Blanques, Lleida has been connected to the mains. With 22.5 MW and with the uniqueness to be the first thermo solar plant in the world hybridized with biomass. The great interest shown in this technological development has allowed this plant to be presented in various forums internationally recognized in Spain, India, USA and Kuwait.

PROMOTION AND INTEGRATED PROJECTS
The group’s international expansion in EPC projects follows the course started some years ago, being the priority geographic areas, Mexico, Central America, South America (Chile, Peru and Brazil) and the Caribbean, where thanks to the knowledge and experience of Abantia in different technologies, we have developed projects in the energy sector. Still, we must not forget the projects that are being developed in other continents like Africa (South Africa), Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait) or Australia.
In this sense, the experience gained over the projects in which Abantia participated, as prime contractor or consortium member with international technology experts, can offer the technical and economical solution best suited to each project and client.
Automation of industrial processes in sectors such as food or automotive industry. A clear example of this activity is the project that is being developed for Thyssen Krupp System Engineering, consisting of a solution to the electrical work of the new model of BMW Mini, associated to TKSE responsibility as integral constructor of Radhaus, Stirnwand and Vorbau lines (pitch wheel, dashboard and front flat). The design and construction work carried out
