Sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army..
• Lt. Kapadia, made the supreme sacrifice for the country while fighting Pakistan sponsored terrorists in Kashmir on November 11, 2000 at the age of 24
• He was caught in the terrorist crossfire while rushing to the rescue of a grievously wounded soldier under his command
• Lt. Nawang Kapadia died leading his troops in the bravest tradition of valour and sacrifice

• The family and the residents of Carmichael Road, where he lived would like construct a monument to remember this sacrifice– There are no army monuments in the civilian areas of Mumbai
• The family has been undertaking continuous efforts to– Increase awareness about the brave soldiers defending India
– Create an atmosphere for lasting peace in Kashmir

• Carmichael Road Resident’s association has obtained all the requisite approvals for the construction of the monument
• Sir Chris Bonington & Lt. Gen. R.V. Kulkarni (retd) would be the patrons of the project
• Indian Army has pledged co-operation and support for this project
• On the day of the inauguration, officers & band from the 4th Battalion the 3rd Gorkha Rifles would be in attendance
