Since batik is a handmade art, with fabric produced in small batches, there are often variations in layout and color. This makes each item unique and special. We hope you will appreciate the individual nature of our textiles and find the differences in their appearance as welcome as we do.

Batik (pronounced ba-teek) is an ancient, handmade, fabric art. Global Mamas keeps this tradition alive! During the batik process, hot wax is stamped onto fabric, which is then

dyed. The batik wax is removed, revealing differently colored patterns and designs. Cracks in the batik wax give patterns the “crackled” look so unique to batik. Global Mamas supports batik artisans, their enterprises, and the preservation of their craft through our handmade batik textile line.
