A Plethora of Possibilities for Campers! • Weekly guests and visitors – including magicians, exotic

animals, music concerts, and marionnettes • Storytime with props and puppets • Splish, splash water play with sensory tables, sprinklers,

and our 2 full-size water slides! • Messy hands-on art activities and crafts • Movin’ and groovin’ with music and movement • Science including cooking, baking and other “magical

science” • Shabbat through the senses • Sports • Summer Camp Sing-A-Longs

Pool Play, Water Play & Water Safety Your child will enjoy water play of varying types daily. Splashing in the pool, water slides, water tables, sand and water play all add to outdoor enjoyment. All campers need to have their bathing suits and a change of clothes each day so they can participate in the fun. Our three and four year old campers enjoy their first group swim experience taught by our highly trained aquatics instructors in a positive and safe environment. Introductory water safety and skills complemented by a wide array of safe, age-appropriate developmental pool games are all part of the fun.

Weekly Guests Each week, special guests and visitors delight your child with entertaining and meaningful events. These guests join us each Wednesday and enrich our campers with exciting programs such as Magic Shows, Marionettes, Exotic Animals, Music Concerts and Dramatic Performance. Camp Yeladim campers are always clamoring for these shows and eagerly await each weekly Wednesday guest.

Sports Fun Three and four year olds at Camp Yeladim delve into sports and gymnastics weekly in the JCC’s gym. Tumbling, stretching, balance beam, parallel bars and the trampoline are just a sample of the activities campers learn from our supportive and experienced JCC athletics staff. Sports days include baseball, soccer, basketball, and more. Children learn about warming up, teamwork, sportsmanship and basic sports fundamentals. Through your child’s participation in these activities, his/her gross motor skills and agility are enhanced.

CampYeladim

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A YELADIM CAMPER:

We begin each morning with singing and dancing; our “Boker

Tov & Boogie.” Campers move and groove to familiar tunes

as they greet their fellow campers with smiles, hand-shakes

and friendly waves.

Pumped up and energetic campers move into camp

homerooms and get messy with arts & crafts, listen to stories

read aloud with puppets and props, carefully measure

ingredients for cooking and take “hikes” around the JCC

property.

Each week of camp highlights a different theme and allows

campers to imagine, explore and learn. Campers enjoy a

dress-up day in addition to making creative activities that

relate to the theme. The themes are related to the summer

holidays and the interests of the campers. Past themes have

included Hawaiian, Americana and Fantasy & Royalty Week.

In addition to creative and fanciful dress-up days, campers

are entertained weekly by a special guest related to the

exciting theme of the week. Campers can’t wait to watch

these fascinating performances, touch and feel unique and

exotic animals, or be an active participant in the show as a

volunteer! At the end of the week campers reflect on all the week’s fun

activities, bake special Shabbat treats and gather in song

and dance for Shabbat-Sing-Along.

camphaverim

FOCUS ON JEWISH HERITAGE:

• Building Jewish identity• Hands-on Judaism through art, music, dance and drama • Jewish Values• Ruach (spirit)• Shlichim (Israeli counselors)• Weekly Shabbat programs• Weekly Jewish themes (from the environment to respecting

others)

TAG INITIATIVE

Torah Avodah Gimilut Chasadim is an initiative designed to enrich the Jewish components of summer camp. By presenting different units such as Shabbat, Judaism and the Environment, Shalom Bayit, and Tikkun Olam, we integrate Jewish life, experiences and values into camp. This year’s initiative theme is Habitu bi (Look At Me). This unit is divided into three parts. 1. Haguf sheli (My Body), which helps us look at our bodies and see how they are similar and different; 2. Mahu yofi (What Is Beauty), which identifies and questions external messages and accompanying pressures around what is beautiful and how we feel about that; 3. Sh’mirat haguf (Guarding the Body), which explores ways we can take care of our bodies from the inside and outside.

TAG:Jewish Values through JCC Camping is funded by a JCC Cares grant from the JCC Association.

Daily SpecialsEach day brings campers a special activity such as tie-dye, chalk art, shaving cream, goop, pop rockets, broomball, tent pitching, parachute games, computer and so much more!

STAFF EXCELLENCE

At Camp Haverim, we pride ourselves in our tradition of professionally trained, creative and caring staff. Our hiring process sets the tone with selecting staff we believe will add to our Camp Haverim community through interviews, thorough background checks and consulting personal and professional references. With the guidance of ACA staff training standards, all camp staff goes through intensive pre-camp training to prepare them for summer, including AED, CPR and First Aid certification trainings. During training, our counselors, specialists and lifeguards are educated in topics such as child development, age appropriate programming, behavior management, appropriate communication, emergency procedures and even child abuse. Summer after summer our staff encourages campers to try new things, connect with fellow campers, make good choices and believe in themselves. Staff is honored and proud to wear their “Role Model” shirts each day and set the example for Camp Haverim campers. We love our camp staff and know you will too!
