PEOHE'S BRUNCH BUNCH
THE USS MIDWAY AND SAN DIEGO HARBOR PROVIDED OUR VIEW
The Brunch Bunch arrived at Peohe's in their exquisitely fine Mercedes-Benz automobiles and were greeted
by the smiling staff at Peohe's. The view from Peohe's is hard to beat and the food is top notch. Although
it gets boring for us SOCAL folks, the weather was near perfect as always (just a few sprinkles). What a great view to enjoy a brunch and watch the boats go by.
We were welcomed by a flowing waterfall upon entry to the restaurant and then escorted to our seats to begin a morning of fine dining. Someone pointed put it was
Margarita Week, so several Margaritas were ordered. Blood Orange seemed to be very popular. The food was
scrumptious and the company was out of sight. These Star folks are pretty friendly people. As they say in the
Country Gazette "a good time was had by all". Upon completion of our fine repast we ambled out
to the waiting Mercedes-Benz automobiles and then went our separate ways until next month when we meet again at Tequila Rose.
Left to right June, Ray Davis, Victoria Mazelli, and Tanni &
Alfred Graichen preparing to dig in. Below Carol Ross (behind Carol is Dale Hull) Celebrates Margarita Week and Levi Curry enjoys his omelet
Georgia Goodhue is all smiles. Barly visible on left is Lois Hull. Ann Mann, Ty Stewert, Richard Mann and peeking around the edge is Dale Hull.

Above the gang is waiting for the food to arrive.
We are fortunate by being able to drive our vintage Mercedes to our events unlike
many of our fellow Star car drivers in other parts of the country. Photo on the right is somewhere back East. I read several car newsletters from around the country and nearly all lament about their pride and joy being stashed away in the garage and they cannot drive it for many more months. This is a quote taken from a January 2015 issue of a car club newsletter in Kansas.
"And yet even as I look at my old car cocooned in the garage waiting for warmer weather, I can’t help but get excited about the coming Year". We are so lucky that we can drive year round.
WE WANT YOU FOR TEQUILA ROSE
OR ELSE The registrations are coming in for the Tequila Rose weekend and make sure one of them is yours. Don't make these guys come looking for you, sign up now! Our National President Terry Kiwala is joining us as well as some Benz folk from Arizona. Trophies are being selected and other prizes are being chosen. Reports are coming in that the dinosaurs are very active this year. The wise Rallye Masters, yep there are two of them, and with sterling virtues will be making sure the route takes us though the heart of dinosaur country. They will also clear the way of Highway Man and other vermin. Where do we find such people?
The rallye route and questions have been planned and ran for the first time. It is going to be a beautiful drive through the nearly deserted byways of Borrego springs and the De Anza State park. It is so easy there will probably be a lot of close finishers making the Rallye Masters job really hard which makes him grumpier.

WE ARE GOING TO THE ANTIQUE GAS AND STEAM ENGINE MUSEUM
April 18, 2015 we are going to take our Mercedes-Benz automobiles to see their heritage and perhaps
educate their owners as well. The museum has a wealth of our heritage to see and touch and even climb
on. There engines dating back to the turn of the twentieth century. There are steam engines both
stationary and in vehicles that are mobile driving a wide variety of machines. The museum has just about
every application these steam gas and diesel engines were used in. There are buildings filled with antique
cars, trucks, tractors, marine and even a diesel aircraft engine. There is a farm house furnished in the
period of the early 1900s, a black smith shop, a weaving building where you may see people running large
looms weaving cloth, and an upholstery shop. There is also a short track railroad that is said to be one of
the best in San Diego County. The museum sits on fifty acres of land so you can imagine how much there
is to see. Your tour director is going to try and arrange a tractor riding tour of the facility.
THE SCOOP
When: April 26. 2015
Where: ANTIQUE GAS AND STEAM ENGINE MUSEUM. 2040 North Santa Fe Ave, Vista CA
Time: Meet at the museum at 1000 AM. Cost: $5.00 per person--over 65 only $4.00. Tractor ride Priceless!
Lunch: Picnic. Bring what you like and something to share if ya want. Beer and wine is
allowed. Grass and seating is provided.
Tell Steve Ross if you are attending so he can arrange parking. You may e-mail him at inewsx@sbcglobal or call 6219-508-3925. Please let Steve know by April 23, 2015 if you will be joining us. There is always the US Mail Service @ 16151 Fruitvale Road, Valley Center CA 92082

We encourage our readers to visit and or use the services of our advertisers. They contribute significantly in helping the club cover the cost of our Star Newsletter. Many
of them also donate to our events, providing us with prizes, trophies and
in some cases services. If you are a business owner and would
like to advertise your services in this publication please contact the editor at
619- 508-3925 or E-Mail [email protected].
You are strongly encouraged to go to our website and read your bulletin
living color. In many cases the website version has more articles of interest. For instance we have been
running copies of our bulletin from 25 years ago and later. It is interesting
to see how the club has changed as well as sow of our members, like me.
You are asked to update or provide your e-mail address to
your editor. This enables the editor to send you a digital version
of our bulletin and get word to you of upcoming events and late breaking news. You may rest
assured that your address WILL NOT be provided to anyone
outside the Mercedes-Benz Club of America Officers or National Membership person. It will never
be used for soliciting anything outside our organization. I give
you my word on that. Steve Ross

A rare 1977 Airstream
I am sure this is a nice rig, but not nearly as well appointed as the Interstate. We believe this was built on a Chevy P-30 chassis with a
454 cubic inch engine.
This is a 1937
Airstream with
a salesman
beckoning us to
enter
Interior of the "37" Airstream. The sign says 350,000 miles and
still going strong! Airstream in this era would build the
motorhome on the chassis chosen by the customer.
The world's first motorhome was a 1910 Pierce-Arrow Landau unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The rear seat folded into a bed and the sink and chamber pot were behind the Chauffeurs seat. Just about everyone had a chauffeur then, unless
you had a model T. I bet we can guess who emptied the chamber pot.
Over a hundred years later we have the
modern motorhome and the sink and chamber
pot are still behind the chauffeur. I assume
that they are much easier to empty today
than in the Pierce-Arrow era.
Who can imagine what the motorhome will
look like one hundred years from now. I am
going to predict they will still have a chamber
pot or equivalent.

President’s Message
Happy March Everybody. I have good and bad news. First the bad…… San Diego has not seen enough rain this season thus putting us in a drought situation. Now the good
news…… We have top down fantastic Mercedes Benz driving weather! So let’s enjoy it while we have it. This month we are hosting the return of the Tequila Rose event. (See
the write up in this newsletter). This is a fantastic opportunity to hang out with your Mercedes Benz Club buddies and have a fun time. Your Board of Directors are working hard at new and fun upcoming events. So now is the time to break out that new
calendar that you received for Christmas and start marking down your event dates. If you are new to the club, come on down and make some new friends. If you are already
an active member, then you know what I’m talking about. Something to remember…. This club is welcoming to all Mercedes Benz models. New, Classic, Vintage, SUV, RV, Sedan’s, Roadsters and trucks. Let’s get together and have some fun!
Thank you for your support Michael Cooper
