Time pressure, access restrictions and narrow roads. Or business as usual Anyone who has to deliver goods to city-centre addresses knows what to expect: narrow roads, tight corners and limited space for manoeuvring. Especially during the day, another factor is heavy traffi c – not only motor vehicles but also cyclists and pedestrians. This demands high levels of concentration on the part of the driver – a lot of responsibility, especially when time is short. And as the driver usually has to make lots of separate deliveries, this means getting out of and back into the vehicle many times. And last but not least, increasingly strict regulations are a growing challenge: access restrictions for diesel vehicles, noise limits and traffi c-calming measures – making his job more and more diffi cult.

All of these factors were taken into consideration in the development of the Econic NGT, the low-entry vehicle with a powerful and environmentally friendly gas-powered drive system. The heart of the vehicle is a pioneering NGT gas engine, which can be used with natural gas and biogas in compressed or liquefi ed form without any technical modifi cations. It eff ectively reduces operating costs as well as particulate emissions and noise levels.

No high steps up or down, no bending over: low entry with just one step integrated into the driver’s cab. This facilitates easy entry and exit for the driver and passenger wherever the truck stops – with 193 centimetresstanding room in the standard cab. That’s good for the back and knees and saves time between stops.

The low-fl oor design of the Econic NGT off ers you a high degree of fl exibility in the choice of bodywork with a gross vehicle weight of 18 to 32 metric tons. The superstructure can be in a compact form or relatively low – and with the same payload volume and unchanged load weight. To transport a similar volume of goods from A to B, you would have to put ten vans on the road.

High payload, low costs. Making urban logistics worthwhile

Press the accelerator pedal and halve your fuel costs. Stop-and-go, traffi c lights, starting on a gradient – fuel con-sumption is higher in cities than anywhere else. Constantly rising energy costs are another factor to be taken into con-sideration. The Econic natural-gas engine can decisively reduce your operating costs: with up to 50% lower fuel costs in normal operation and substantial savings on vehicle taxa-tion due to the low CO2 emissions. And if you use liquefi ed natural gas or biogas, you can also increase the truck’s range – without any engine modifi cations.

The Econic NGT is designed for continuous operation and a long lifetime. For example with a powerful engine cooling system, full air suspension that reduces tyre wear, and the low-wear brake system. Good for the air – and for your image. The combustion of natural gas results in extremely low levels of emissions. The Econic NGT complies with ECE R 110 certification requirements – the European safety standard for engines, gas containers, valves and pipes – as well as with the strict EEV standards (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle). It therefore fulfils the Euro 5 emission regulations and can enhance your company’s ecological image.

Fuel of the future: biogas. Engines running on biogas are the economical, sustainable and CO2-neutral alternative. Emissions are close to zero and all fermentable residual substances can be used as raw materials for the production of biogas: sewage sludge, organic waste and manure, as well as previously unused plants and plant components.

Drive by night, when the roads are quieter. Noise emissions from gas engines are up to 50% lower than with a diesel engine with noise encapsulation. In combination with a certified superstructure, this complies with the PIEK stand-ard. That means you can plan your deliveries also outside times of heavy traffic and full roads. The result: optimal use of your vehicle fleet, less loss of time, and significantly lower fuel consumption. And no disturbance for the residents.
