Per NOAA’s request the owner has agreed to remove the concrete groin-wall; however when the wall is removed there will be no support on the west edge of the pier where the wall is removed. In order to support the shoreward end of the pier we will make the following modifications: Remove the (5) small steel pin piles and one timber pile under the 57’-10” pier section. Drive (4) new 8” steel piles to support the shoreward end of the pier. Construct a new shoreward section of pier. Repair the remaining portion of the pier reducing the outer end as shown in the drawings. Elevate the entire pier so the deck is a minimum of 6” higher than the current height so the majority of the pier structure is above the OHWL. Pier will be re-decked with grated decking. 1 205 NE Northlake Way, Suite 230 Seattle, WA 98105-6816 Tel (206) 548-9800 Fax (206) 548-1022 Contractor’s License #: WATERCI881RS

Re: 7840 SE 20th St. West Pier Replacement & Shoreline Work – 1804-097

Dear Lauren,

This letter is in response to NOAA Fisheries request to remove the concrete groin-wall that supports the shoreward 57’-10” of the west side of the pier at 7840 SE 20th Street. Per NOAA’s request the owner has agreed to remove the concrete groin-wall; however when the wall is removed there will be no support on the west edge of the pier where the wall is removed. In order to support the shoreward end of the pier we will make the following modifications:

· Remove the (5) small steel pin piles and one timber pile under the 57’-10” pier section.

· Drive (4) new 8” steel piles to support the shoreward end of the pier.

· Construct a new shoreward section of pier.

· Repair the remaining portion of the pier reducing the outer end as shown in the drawings.

· Elevate the entire pier so the deck is a minimum of 6” higher than the current height so the majority of the pier structure is above the OHWL.

· Pier will be re-decked with grated decking.

Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this application.
