Other remaining modules have equipped me with strong research skills such as writing academic research reports, academic writing skills & skills of analysing Local government (Municipal Systems Act & Intergovernmental Relation Framework Act). In 2010 I was part of top students who were given a key holder Top students award as part of the Department of Community Development’s recognition of my performance. In 2014 I have received two merit certificates for research methods & research design modules for my performance in the Honours Program in 2013. Work experience In June and July 2012 (from 18 June to 13 July) I volunteered in the Kenneth Gardens Project, Durban (Under NPO known as Senzokuhle Home-based Care) which is where I got exposure of conducting face to face survey interviews to Kenneth Gardens dwellers, asking them about their attitude about the Homeopathy Clinic in their area. In June and July 2012 (from 18 June to 13 July) I volunteered in the Kenneth Gardens Project Durban (Under NPO known as Senzokuhle Home-based Care) which is where I got exposure of conducting face to face survey interviews to Kenneth Gardens dwellers asking them about their attitude about the Homeopathy Clinic in their area Furthermore in 2012 (27 August to 21September) I also volunteered (as part of Community Based Learning module requirement) at Inanda Durban in the project called Zinakekele in the NGO called Sizimisele Development Trust whereby I was together with my colleagues creating awareness creating awareness about HIVAIDS and TB with caregivers and doing home visits to senior citizens which developed me personally by improving my confidence In 2013 (From March to November) during my fourth year of study (Honours Level) I tutored first-

year and second-year students of community development two community development modules (namely Introduction to Community Development Theory (CMDV101) for first years and ProgrammeProject Planning (CMDV202) for second years) whereby I was facilitating understanding of students that they got from the lecturer such as creating Gantt Charts for project planning on excel computer programme and explaining terms and concepts Furthermore I have recently acquired a certificate in Basic Project Management from Hudisa Business School which has maximized my knowledge on Project Management

This also improved my proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft word and excel and also improved my confidence via standing in front of at least 20 students and explaining and facilitating discussions It also improved my communication skills Currently from 1 April 2014 to March 2015 I am an intern of Department of Science amp Technology (DST) National Research Foundation (NRF) and I am based in Sandton at South African National Energy Development Institute a parastatal of Department of Energy I work under a portfolio called Energy Efficiency (EE) in the sub-portfolios of ESCOCogen Facilitator whereby we create awareness through workshops around South about the alternative method of generating energy called cogeneration (simultaneous generation of Heat Cooling and Power and generating electricity form waste including waste heat from turbines and solid waste) which contributes to reduction of greenhouse gases And as well as in EE in Buildings portfolio we disseminate scattered information about energy efficiency in buildings through bridging the information gap on energy efficiency in buildings (bigEE) project by exposing people to the website bigeenet where information on this is based which also reduce greenhouse gases and promote energy efficiency Through this 11 months from April I spent on these two portfolios I have been exposed to using excel and PowerPoint through preparing presentation for 12L tax incentive (which gives a rebate to those registered who show measurable EE savings in their buildings) for the latter portfolio and through preparing presentation for the funders of workshops for the former and in the former part of my duties is to calculate percentages and averages of the feedbackattitudes about workshop of people who attend workshops and creating presentation thereafter based on the calculations and send it to the funders of workshop to analyse I would like to be considered for the position I am applying for because my passion lies with the social science space as well as the environmental sustainability one hence I did Environmental Sociology in my honours level in 2013 I believe through all these skills I can contribute massively in your organization as well as in the human society as a whole as a form I also believe that this proves that I leadership skills which I believe could be developed by the leadership programme
