Every Christmas we love to be caught up in the joy, the shopping for gifts, the “angel” choir singing

praise for the birth of Jesus our Savior, and the churchpageants by the young people depicting Mary, themanger, and the birth of theChrist child. But we often over-look the real purpose of Hiscoming.

Of course, we know Jesuscame to redeem us from sin andHe died on the cross to save andmake us sons and daughters ofour Heavenly Father, but as ourtheme Scripture shows, we seeso much more that our Saviorpurchased for us — not only oureternal salvation — but every-thing we need here and now inthis life.

We will look into theseblessings in a moment, but I amreminded of a humorous, butsweet, story that our dear C.M.Ward loved to tell everyChristmastime.

In one of the churchpageants, the eight to ten year olds donned theirbathrobes and all the other props they could gather,and proceeded to depict the Christmas story theSunday night before Christmas. Of course, the bigmoment came as Mary and Joseph approach theinnkeeper to secure a room. You know the story well:The innkeeper makes it clear, “There is no room inthe inn!” But in the pageant, which had not been toowell rehearsed, Joseph pleads with the innkeeper that

they were desperate; they had traveled far, wereexhausted and worst of all, Mary was pregnant andnear to giving birth! Again, it was made clear — “NOROOM!” Joseph pleads again and again, until finally

the little innkeeper was somoved with compassion hebroke down and said, “Well, I know I am not supposed tosay this, but COME ON IN!”

I’m sure all of us, if in theinnkeeper’s place, would havedesired to say the same thing!Thank God, millions of ushave found room for HIM inour hearts and how we long tolead others into our “inn”!

But, beyond the glorioustruth of “so great a salvation”(Hebrews 2:3), Jesus hascome to touch, heal, deliver,bless, and provide for ourevery need.

Never in the last hundredsof years have we seen such aneed for the compassionatetouch of our blessed Savior.

Twenty-three hurricanes and tropical storms this yearalone! Katrina, which virtually destroyed NewOrleans, and on the heels of it, Rita, another killerhurricane that finished off much of the Gulf Coast.Multitudes still suffer the effects of the horrific 9.15underwater earthquake and subsequent tsunami thathit Asia last year. And now, even as I write this letter,another killer earthquake has struck, this time inPakistan, where the death toll has

Ah, dear partners, this will not be a happy Christmasfor millions around the world. Surely, as I wrote lastmonth, these disasters signal the “birth pangs,” of thenearness of the return of Christ.

SO WHAT SHALL WE DO?Our theme Scripture holds the answer, but WE

MUST GET THE MESSAGE TO THEM!Can we even fathom the pain, sorrow, and broken

hearts in those who have lost loved ones: wives, hus-bands, children, relatives, and friends? In Indonesiaalone, thousands were literally snatched from the arms ofloved ones and pulled into the sea, never to be seen again.I am told that a pastor in India, clutching to hold his wife,lost his grip only to lose his dear one forever!

Yes, the only answer is in our precious Jesus, nowthe full grown and powerful Son of God, our Father. Inthe book of Luke, Jesus repeated the prophecy of Isaiahconcerning Himself:

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME….”(Luke 4:18)

And here are some of the precious missions a baby Jesusgrew up to fulfill:

“HE HATH ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THEGOSPEL TO THE POOR; HE HATH SENT METO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED….” (Luke4:18)

And again, I ask: Who is Jesus’ body on earth today? WEARE! He told us to go into all the world to —

“PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES,AND RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THEBLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THATARE BRUISED.” Luke 4:18Dear Partners, we are Jesus’ body here on earth —

we are to do all these wonderful ministries to the multitudes who languish with unbelievable pain — withbroken hearts that only Jesus can heal!

Touch that hurting neighbor with a gift of love; introduce them to dear, old TBN with 24 hours a dayhealing of broken hearts. Invite them to church — tellthem of the GREATEST HEALER of broken hearts whowants to come in and live in and heal that broken heart.
