Message from PASSAT 2009 Workshop Chair

Welcome to the workshops and symposia held in conjunction with the 2009 IEEE International Conference on Privacy, Security, Risk and Trust (PASSAT 2009) in Vancouver, Canada, August 29–31, 2009.

This year’s program includes two symposia and one workshop that cover a wide range of hot research topics addressing issues on the leading edge of privacy, security, risk, and trust research: • The 2009 International Symposium on Secure Computing (SecureCom 2009) • The 2009 International Symposium on Privacy and Security Applications (PSA 2009) • The 2009 International Workshop on Software Security Processes (SSP 2009) The symposia consist of invited papers in the field of privacy, security, risk, and trust. The goal of SecureCom 2009 and PSA 2009 is to provide an additional forum within PASSAT 2009 for interaction among researchers and further discussion on the topics of interest to the main conference. The workshop provides a focused treatment of specific topics in the PASSAT field. We believe these workshops/symposia are an excellent complement to the overall scope of the main conference and give additional value and interest to PASSAT 2009. We hope that all of the selected papers will have a significant impact on future research in the respective research areas.

The workshops were selected by considering the quality of the proposal, its application to the scope of PASSAT 2009, and the CV of the organizers. We sincerely appreciate the hard work of the workshop organizers in designing the call for papers, assembling the Program Committee, managing the peer review process for the selection of papers, and planning the workshop program. Thanks are extended to the workshop Program Committees, external reviewers, session chairs, contributing authors, and attendees. We also wish to acknowledge the support and guidance from our links with the conference organization, especially Steering Chairs Justin Zhan and Laurence T. Yang. It has been a pleasure to work with them. Finally, we hope that you will find the symposium and the workshops quite interesting and stimulating. Also enjoy PASSAT 2009 and the nice city of Vancouver, Canada. Elisa Bertino, Purdue University, USA PASSAT 2009 Workshop Chair
