Message from Rev. Lea The Journey of the Baby Jesus…

This year at First United Methodist we are beginning what I hope

will become a new tradition. As we journey from the first Sunday

of Advent to Christmas Eve, the baby Jesus from our nativity scene

will be visiting a different family each day. Beginning on Sunday,

December 2nd, I will give the baby Jesus to a family who will take

him home with them. This family will keep baby Jesus until the

following day and then will choose another family in the

congregation and will deliver baby Jesus to them. This pattern will

continue each day until Christmas Eve. The family that has baby

Jesus on Christmas Eve is asked to bring him to the Christmas Eve

service at 6p.m. to place him in the manger with Mary, Joseph and

the animals.

When Baby Jesus arrives at your home, please call the church office

(627-3386) and leave your name and the date of his arrival. For

example, I might say: “This is Rev. Lea and Baby Jesus came to

visit me on Dec. 4th.” This will help us to keep up with where Baby

Jesus is visiting.

Baby Jesus will be traveling with a special journal used to record his

journey. While Baby Jesus is in your home, please write something

in the journal about what having Jesus in your home has meant to

you. You may choose to share something you did while Jesus was

there, or you may choose to have one of your children to write a

story. Through the years, I've even seen people attach a picture of

something they did while Baby Jesus was with them. Or you may choose to write a reflection of how the

experience changed the way you experienced the Christmas season. It is entirely up to you.

Thank you for entering into this wonder-filled

experience with us as we journey with the Christ-

child together. May this experience fill our hearts

with love as we wait in expectation for His coming.

Blessings, Rev. Lea

This month it has gotten COLD! And my

momma doesn't turn the heat up high

enough to keep me warm...but she did buy

me a new sweater to wear. I wasn't sure

what she was doing the first time she put

it on me - but I LOVE my sweater now. I

love it so much that two other friends have given me sweaters so I can stay warm even

when momma has to wash this one. Momma has been putting up all sorts of pretty things,

but I'm not really very excited about it because she keeps saying "Ellie, no" when I want

to look at (chew) them. So I just look at them from momma's lap.

Woofy Christmas! - Ellie
