Welcome to our first live performance since the Fall of 2020. We are so excited to be back in the theatre and have you here with us to share in this live dance experience. Since touring has been part of Kittiwake’s artistic vision since 2018, we are particularly thankful that we could bring this show to Arts and Culture Centres across the province.

This evening, we present a mixed program which includes two world premieres of new dance works - a piece of mine called Alone Together; a reflection on the effect of isolation, which drew inspiration from poetry that was contributed by a broad range of community partners and artists based on their experiences during lockdowns. The second new work is Sea Change, by Kittiwake’s soloist, Hannah Drover. This is Hannah’s first piece of new choreography since returning to Newfoundland in 2020. There are two variations from the classical ballet repertoire, as well as Accompanied Cello Suites with the added bonus, inSt. John’s, of cellists performing on stage with us.

I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know what’s coming up next for Kittiwake. We will be presenting Ballet at Bowring, an outdoor performanceon July 10 at the amphitheatre in Bowring Park, St. John’s; in September weare presenting a new story ballet, Peter Pan in the Park at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre; and we are really looking forward to a province-wide tourof The Nutcracker, our 35th annual presentation!

On behalf of Kittiwake, thank you to all who made this production possible – our staff, the enterprises who support us and the performers who worked so hard. We also would like to acknowledge the support of TD Bank Group, the Government of Canada, ArtsNL, the City of St. John’s and DanceNL.

And, finally, thank you for coming. For us it is all about the human connection that comes from a live theatre and dance experience. Hope you enjoy the show!

Creatively Yours,Martin Vallée

Stephanie CampbellAmy Collyer-Holmes (cello) Originally from Toronto, Amy Collyer-Holmes has made Newfoundland her home since 2016. Now absorbed in the baking trade, Sarah Jane is opening an artisanal French-

style bakery called “Red Hen Bakery” in C.B.S. which is due to open this summer. She enjoys languages, gourmet cooking, making witty/silly puns, and reading about food science and psychology.
