Message from the President

Fall is officially here, despite the recent warm weather that we have been having, and it is one of the most

beautiful times of year in Fulton County!

The beautiful landscape and foliage of Fulton County sets a perfect backdrop for the Fulton Fall Folk

Festival, which will be held on October 20-22 this year. At the chamber, we are working hard to make this

event a success. The Chamber of Commerce will once again be sponsoring the activities at the

McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Community Building, located at 301 East Maple Street in

McConnellsburg. We have indoor and outdoor vendors, children’s activities including inflatables and a barrel

train, and more. Please see our website for more details or if you are interested in participating. As a mem-

ber, if you would like to volunteer to be a part of the festivities of the weekend with us, please contact myself

or Sue at the Chamber office.

In addition to our location, there will be a number of activities around the county, and you can pick up one of

our FFFF directories for additional information. This annual event enhances the tourism component of our

chamber, and is a great showcase of our county and businesses. As we begin to promote the event and our

venue, please join us in sharing our posts and promotions on your social media platforms.

Since our last newsletter, we held our 20th Annual Golf Tournament on July 28th. Thank you to all

businesses and individuals who participated, sponsored, or volunteered your time to make that event a

success. We also are beginning to plan for Christmas in McConnellsburg, and welcome new ideas and

participants. If you are interested, please contact Sue at the chamber office or myself at the email address

below.

Information about our events can always be found on our website, and we encourage you to visit the site for

information and details. We also encourage you to use the Community Calendar feature of the site to

increase knowledge and coordination of events in the community. Please view and follow our Facebook

page for information, photos, and updates as well. At the chamber, we continue to strive to increase

member involvement and benefit As a Board of Directors, we remain committed to this community, and to

the growth, development, and betterment of all of Fulton County as it pertains to commerce and tourism.

We welcome all suggestions, feedback, and communication. Please feel free to contact us via the website,

email, or phone at any time.

Personally, I am committed to serving this organization and to our members, and can be reached at

[email protected] with any concerns, ideas, or feedback.

Greetings! On November 7, 2017, Pennsylvania voters will be asked to consider a proposed constitutional amendment to allow the General Assembly to enact legislation permitting local governments to expand the current homestead property tax assessment exclusion. If the amendment is approved, the General Assembly will then have to enact legislation authorizing local governments to exclude up to 100 percent of the assessed value of the homestead property. On my website, you will find the ballot question and helpful information on Amending the Homestead Property Tax Assessment Exclusion. My office is always available to help with any questions you may have regarding this, or other state-related matters. Feel free to call during regular business hours or contact me any time by email. Best wishes for an enjoyable autumn in beautiful Fulton County! Best Regards,
