We have almost reached the end of Term 2 and it is clear that students, staff and parents need a well-deserved break. I hope families will be able to take a few days off as the impact of this year has certainly been felt by many. We have enjoyed many activities across the College this term and students have worked really hard. The students that are study- ing Tourism provided a tantalising taste of Greece, Brazil, Japan and New Zealand as holiday destinations. Their presentations and knowledge was really impressive and I think everyone have added these places to their list when we can travel internationally again. What I am always impressed by is our students ability to speak confidently and I want to congratulate them on their work. I know Mrs Meers was super proud too! Yesterday we also had our Musica Viva Event which is always lots of fun. This year it came with a change as it could not be done in person in the school. The event was provided by Zoom and it was fantastic. Thankfully, the technology did not let us down and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Chil- dren were able to add comments and questions throughout the event which made it a very interactive performance. Thank you, Mrs Ellis and Mrs Braden, for organising this wonderful event. It really has been fantastic having the students return to the College and seeing many of the routines re-establish. Children need to be at school, learning and interacting with their peers. Reports will be coming out for students Pre-Kindy to Year 11 and again, it is great to see the progress children have made despite COVID-19 and remote learning. COVID-19 has certainly changed many things that we do how- ever, the children are very trained with washing their hands and sanitising so I must give them a big well done. Some restrictions have eased and hopefully we will see more ease during Term 3. Thank you, parents, for keeping any children that are unwell at home as this helps keep our whole community as healthy as pos- sible. Thank you and enjoy the end of Term 2 and see you all back for Term 3. “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love” Ephesians 4:2 God bless, Tracey Gray Principal

Showing kindnessBy Mrs Jennifer FredliPre-kindergarten students have been making cards for people they love. This follows on from our portraits of people we love. Students are drawing, writing and learning to show appreciation for the special people in their lives. Our school celebrates 100% kindness and Pre-kindergarten are demonstrating their kind hearts.

Musica Viva Concert “Timmy and the Breakfast Band”Exciting news this week as we held our virtual Musica Viva con-cert “Timmy and the Breakfast Band” on Wednesday.

Students watched the show via zoom in their classrooms. Origi-nally planned as a live concert, alternative arrangements had to be made due to current restrictions. Students were able to interact with the musicians and performers via chat, as well as live Q&A.

The show was about a schoolboy called Timmy who hears music inside his head all the time! The performance investigates the different ways music affects Timmy’s emotions, feeling and reac-tions as he wakes up and gets ready to face the day. Pairing music making with circus, the show was lots of fun.

Timmy and the Breakfast Band are comprised of Rachel John-ston (cellist), Trent Arkleysmith (multi-instrumentalist) and Ga-reth Bjaarland (acrobatics & banjo).

A reminder that this is the last week to donate to Evie’s Animal Welfare League

donation box located at reception.

Amnesty on School Musical InstrumentsDo you have a school instrument like a clarinet, saxophone or flute lurking under your bed or hidden in the back of a cupboard? Or your older brother or sister never returned their violin or bas-soon when they left school?

Our Music Department is doing a major audit of all equipment. We have a few instruments “missing in action”. Perhaps you know where they are?? Please return to reception no questions asked.

Looking for Instrumental Teachers – Brass and WoodwindWe are looking for teachers of woodwind and brass instruments. Do you know of anyone in the area who teaches these instru-ments? Please let the music department know via email kristy [email protected]

Year 4 NewsBy Lynda WhymanStage 2 were fortunate to have Andrew Russell join us and share his knowledge and passion for art. Andrew was inspired by his mother to paint. His style is a mix of contemporary and tradi-tional and he uses dot art which is the coastal style. He is from the Worimi tribe at Port Stephens and his totem is the dolphin. An-drew showed us dot painting techniques and how to use stencils of Aboriginal totems to form the basis for our art. His artworks usually represent Australian fauna and marine animals. He par-ticularly loves painting fish. Andrew told us a little bit about how Aboriginal art is important for passing down stories and keeping their culture alive.

Your role at SCACDirector of Wellbeing and Deputy Principal. I also teach some PDHPE and Christian Studies.

Where were you born? Here in Bega.

What school did you attend?Bega High School

What were you like in High School?I was your run of the mill student who just blended in to the background (well that’s how I remember it).

What was your favourite Subject and why?I’ve always loved sport so PE was the highlight of my week but I also loved Maths because I loved the problem solving.

What do you love about SCAC?I love the sense of community that a PreK – Yr 12 school creates where students across the whole school can interact in the playground. And I love the open spaces and the views from the playground.

Past or Present, name 3 people you would invite to Dinner?Any three family members who are available. Family dinners are the best.

What’s your favourite place in the Bega Valley?I love Tathra beach and Nelsons Lagoon.

A place you would love to visit: Iceland in the summer. I’ve had some friends visit and say how amazing it is and the photos I’ve seen look incredible.

If you won $10 million what would you do first?Buy a boat to go fishing.
