Sharing The Savior Developing Disciples
In Preschool
On October 22nd, the Preschoolers launched into
the Red Letter Challenge!
Our first week we discussed the difference between BLACK
and RED letters - Where we can BE with Jesus - and how to
SHARE Jesus with others!
We used GLITTER to
show how you can
spread Jesus’ love
We learned that
Jesus is in our HEARTS
so we can BE with
Him EVERYWHERE!
Pastor’s Corner – November 2019
THE DASH
There is a poem written by Linda Ellis called, “The Dash”. The dash refers to the mark
between the date of birth and the date of death on a grave marker. The point of the poem
is to bring the reader’s attention to the importance of living life, the dash, to the fullest.
As we have been taking the journey through the “Red Letter Challenge”, we hear from Jesus
how we are to live in the “dash”. During week one we focused on “Being”. This can be
difficult for many of us as often we are so busy doing that we forget to “be”. Be who God
has created is to be. First and foremost, His loved children. As we move into November,
we will hear about how we are called to forgive, serve, give and go.
I love how the title of this journey includes the word, challenge. It is a challenge, to live life
as God has called us. It takes effort to keep our focus on how God has created us and
provides for us. Sometimes it may even seem like work to be intentionally being, forgiving,
sharing, giving and going.
I hope and pray that you have shared in this journey. If not, it’s not too late. Contact a staff
member and they will be happy to provide you with a book.
The Dash, living life to the fullest. Thanks be to God for who He is and for sending His Son
who, “came to give us life, life to the full.” John 10:10.

WOM
The Bazaar was a success! Technically, at the time of this writing the bazaar has not happened yet,
but God has blessed this effort each year. We have every confidence that He will again this year.
Many people helped in so many ways- by baking, sewing, growing, canning, knitting, crafting,
cooking, serving, collecting, sorting, cleaning, arranging, tagging, pricing, cashiering, and bagging.
Then there are those who moved furniture, put up tables, packed leftovers, put away tables, and
moved furniture back. Also there was poster making and advertising here and in other churches.
And there were all the customers who attended, shopped, purchased, and consumed. Thank you!,
Thank you to all of you!
Upcoming events- Next meeting is November 12 with potluck at 5:30 and meeting at 6:30. Prayer
Partners will be revealed at the November WOM meeting. If you would like to participate in this
activity and haven’t signed up give Shirley Olson a call. We will be filling shoe boxes for Operation
Christmas Child and care baskets for shut-ins. Please bring the items you signed up to contribute.
Advent by Candlelight is December 3. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board by the elevator.
Please consider hosting a table and bringing a friend.

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you
hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to
drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go
to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ -
Matthew 25:37-40
This is the one time of the year where I will eat pumpkin. I have one slice (maybe two
if its really good) and that fills my quota for the year. Its an amazing time where we gather all
the wonderful treats such as pumpkin pie, others have cherry pie, croissants, candied yams,
mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing of all varieties, sweet potato pie and even pecan pies.
There is so much food that we have left overs all week. And the piece de le resistance is the
turkey. Brined Baked or fried it is the main attraction. All hail the turkey.
When we gather around these meals we gather as family and share wonderful stories
of the previous year. We hear how the nieces and nephews are growing and doing in school.
We hear how uncle Bob almost sank a boat in the lake and we try and teach grandma and
grandpa how to use the latest tablet. These are wonderful times filled with great moments
to create new memories and cherish the ones you love.
While this is usually characterized as a wonderful time for many it is painful. For many
this is the first major holiday spent without mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, or even the
child you had prayed for so long that never made it to this world. For many this day is the
realization of the new normal of what this world looks like. Silence takes the place of
laughter, and empty seats gather around the table instead of smiles.
Let us not forget that even though we often see this as a ‘family’ holiday we are not to
close ranks and keep others out at this time but instead open our arms and throw another
chair around the table (Afterall cousin Timmy can wait another year to sit at the adults table)
for our Christian Family. We reach out and give thanks to our Lord who reached out to us
even while we were yet sinners. For just as we did for the least of these, we did for him, and
just as we were once strangers, we are invited into the house of the Lord with a feast waiting
for us because he brought us home. Truly Thanks Be To God. Pastor Matt

“SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS” If you have recently experienced the death of a loved one, you may be wondering or even fearing how you will get through the holidays without that person. It may be difficult to feel joyful and seem happy when you are grieving while others are looking forward to celebrating.
To help you deal with the situation, we are going to show “Surviving the Holidays”, a video which has been made by the same people who have done the GriefShare series, followed by voluntary discussion and refreshments.

STEWARDSHIP
“Making a Difference”
“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not
all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and
each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:4)
God’s stewards can make a difference as we serve the Lord in His kingdom through the
Church. God will empower us so we can faithfully use our God-given talents. God did not
make us and give us so much without giving us the ability to make a difference in our
churches, communities, and the world. God will always equip us for the tasks He gives us to
do. Think of the account of the tongue-tied Moses whom God equipped to be the leader of
a vast nation. Study of the life of David, an obscure shepherd boy, whom God prepared to be
king. Marvel at God’s patience with Gideon who asked for test after test before he was
confident enough to undertake the task God entrusted to him. We might find new situations
and challenges to be a bit risky or uncomfortable, but just as God was with Moses, David,
and Gideon, He will be with us all the way. With His help we fill find ways our time and
talents can make a difference.
It is important and essential that we do our parts to support the body of Christ. We could
easily compare this cooperation to that of a basketball team, which requires the contribution
of each player. The guards need to bring the ball down the court, run the offense, make the
correct passes, and contribute in scoring. The forwards need to rebound and score, as well
as does the center. All of the positions have to contribute on defense. Each team member
plays a unique role and is valuable to the team. If one of them fails to contribute, the whole
team suffers. We each have a part to contribute on God’s team. We can be effective in
reaching the unchurched and the churched when we all contribute. God gives us talents and
gifts so we can use them to His glory in His church. When we let God work through us, we
can make a difference.
