- 7, 9 am – noon. This is a mini-VBS

Storage Shelf Cleaning
It is time to clean out the storage shelves and cabinets in the 2nd floor classrooms. Groups and users who have stored things in those classrooms need to dispose of no longer needed items and label remaining items with the name of the owning group and the current date. Beginning on July 15, we will donate or dispose of all remaining, unlabeled items.
Summer Music and Dance Camp
August 7 - 11, 9 am - noon. Rising 1st through 6th graders are invited to attend Messiah’s Summer Music and Dance Camp! Classes offered will include handbells, Orff instruments/recorder, singing, and dance. The children will give a special presentation during worship on August 13, at the 9:30 am service. The cost is just $20/child ($15 for siblings). Contact John Krumich at [email protected] or Rachel Elliff at [email protected] with questions or for more information. Scholarships are available. Turn in forms in the fellowship hall Sunday mornings.
New Worship Service
Messiah has a new, nontraditional
worship service called Risk. The
service takes place at 11 am in the
Youth Center and is designed for all
ages. We encourage you to share
with friends.
Summer Musicians Needed
During the months of July and
August, our choirs will take a much
needed break. We encourage
musicians in our congregation to
come forward and share their gifts!
If you are interested in playing,
ringing, dancing, or singing during
worship, please contact Jessica Irish
on or before June 30, at
[email protected]. The Summer Fun Kids Zone Summer Sun School for children begins
today at 9:30 am, classes for 2 & 3 year olds, and a class for 4 year olds meet in our pre-school area. Children who have just completed Kindergarten through 5th grades are invited to enter the Summer Fun Kid Zone from 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Children will gather in rooms 263-5 for a fun opening, then move in small teams to different activities including Bible stories, games, and crafts. We need adult leaders to help with the pre-school classes, as well as the Summer Fun Kid Zone. If you can help, please contact Monty Holcombe at [email protected], Rachel Elliff at [email protected], or Robin Ringler at [email protected].
Haiti Interest Meeting Messiah has constructed three homes in the slums of Port au Prince that has literally taken people from living under tarps to having solid walls and a roof over their heads which doesn’t leak! If you have interest in serving in Haiti, there will be a meeting on Sunday, July 9, immediately following the 11:00 am worship services where you can learn more about serving in Haiti. Our next team will be traveling to Haiti in February and we invite you to consider if this may be a way that God is calling you to serve. If you cannot make the meeting on July 9, please email Sherry Bouley at [email protected] and let her know of your interest.
Prayer Requests Prayer Request cards can be found in the pews. Just place one in the offering plate,
or you may fill one out on our website. Stop by the Welcome Center to pick up a
Prayer List and include these persons in your prayers. If you are
interested in joining our prayer ministry, email [email protected].

Vacation Bible School
July 24 – 28, 9 am - noon. Our fun-
filled VBS is for 4 year olds through
rising 6th graders. This year’s theme
is “Hero Central – Discover Your
Strength in God!” Kids will have
awesome adventures alongside
some of their favorite Bible heroes
and discover the qualities that make
us truly heroic in God.
The Zen Zone
Sunday afternoons during the summer from 1 pm to 3 pm in the church library. Are you looking to develop a closer relationship with God and find that there are too many distractions getting in the way?? You are cordially invited to The Zen Zone. This will be a quiet place where you can observe things in your life and listen for God’s presence. Doing what, you ask? That’s entirely up to you. Suggestions are: meditate on the sermon; read scripture or a devotional; draw, color, or zentangle; work on a project. This will be drop-in style: come when you can and stay for as long as you want. Intrigued, but don’t know how to start? Contact Kim Gregg at [email protected].
The Jeremiah Project
The Jeremiah Project is in need of 1 volunteer for the week of July 16 - 22. The volunteer must be male, over the age of 25 and willing to drive. For more information please contact Tommy Suh at 703-569-9862 ext. 104 or email [email protected].
Collecting Bazaar Jewelry It will be Bazaar time before we know it. As you sort through your unworn jewelry this summer, please consider donating to the Messiah UMC Bazaar. There is a basket in the church office for your convenience. I will check it often. It takes much time to sort, sometimes clean, add new backs on some earrings, place on cards for selling, and price the jewels! Thanks so much for your past support. You are all so generous. For more information or questions contact Karen Brannam at 703-250-1941 or email [email protected].
