METAL FRAMING WALL+
INTRODUCTION
Design wall framing with Wall+M
Metal Framing Wall+ application for Autodesk® Revit®
1. ....allows designers to quickly pre-define their wall framing configurations and frame walls in only few easy steps;
2. ...configuration procedure supports both C+C and C+U framing types;
3. ...easily edit framing either manually or automatically;
4. …suitable for residential and multi-stored houses;
5. ...lets you design framing with thousands different possible configurations;
6. …makes sheathing layouts;
7. ...prepares workshop drawings in a few clicks;
8. ...saves vast amounts of time.

Metal Framing Wall+
Metal Framing Wall+ gives Revit® users a one-stop full-power platform for the whole metal stud walls – from the auto-design
of light gauge steel framing, with clash detection and real-time take-offs, to shop drawings and cut lists. Solution supports both
C+C (incl. C+C Chamfered), C+U (incl. C+U Special) and U+U framing systems.

Metal Framing Wall+
Metal Framing Wall+ has an E-Help where users can find a sample projects and explore them.
Wall+M installation includes:
• Sample Structural Framing and Structural Connection families
Note: You can find these families in Project Browser and create new types if needed.
Also you can modify these families, like framing profiles etc.
• Sample schedules and tags for a quick start of your work with shop drawings
• Configuration files which are pre-defined with basic and the most popular framing settings
8
Workflow
1. Build a model using Revit functionality
2. Create wall types with layers → assign materials
3. Split walls into prefabricated segments using Revit Split Element functionality
4. Write unique marks to wall Mark parameter
5. Modify wall joins using Revit Wall Joins functionality
6. Wall+ → Load Families and Schedules
7. Wall+ → define Framing Configuration
8. Wall+ → map wall types with framing configurations using Wall Link
9. Wall+ → frame walls
10. Wall+ → make stud alignment and add additional elements if needed
11. Wall+ → make sheathing layout if needed using Split Sheathing Parts
12. Wall+ → define Shop Drawing Configurations
13. Wall+ → make shop drawings for one wall using Create Frame Assembly
14. Wall+ → sort frame members
15. Add shop drawing views into the sheet for one wall, and save it as a template for the future walls
16. Wall+ → make shop drawings for other wall segments

Best practices of making walls
• Walls have to be modeled according to your framing needs. Wall+M has the ability to frame sloped walls, but sides of a wall
should always be vertical, as it is in real life (Picture 1)
• Avoid abnormal wall forms which sometimes occur when it is attached to the roof (Picture 2)
• Walls should be modeled as it should be paneled and prefabricated (Picture 3)
Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3
10
Best practices of making walls
Wall types:
Wall structure should be layered out in the way the parts of framing will be modeled e.g.
1. Sheathing (top)
2. Metal Secondary Framing
3. Metal Framing
4. Sheathing (bottom)
Specify materials for every layer is mandatory.
Materials for every framing layer have to be
unique.
11
Best practices of making walls
Wall splitting:
• Wall+M is capable of making frames for both on-site and modular wall framing. Splitting defines the modules of wall.
• To define panels of framing, maximum height of studs, etc. you should split wall where you want your framing to end.
• Walls should be split straight vertically or horizontally.
• After horizontal split, new created walls have to be aligned to levels which it represents.

Wall+M families
AGACAD provides sample, the most popular framing and connection families together with Wall+M software. Default Metric and Imperial libraries are located here:
If you use Wall+M from TOOLS 4 BIM Dock in Revit 2015, 2016 or 2017:
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\TOOLS 4 BIM\2017 (or 2016, 2015 version)\Wall+M\16.6.50623.0 (or other version)\Wall+M\Libraries\Metric or Imperial
If you do not use TOOLS 4 BIM Dock, especially in the older Revit versions:
C:\ProgramData\Tools 4 Revit\Wall+ 2014 (or other version)\Wall+\Metric or Imperial Library
If you modify these families in the future, then you can hold it in your company template or place into this catalogue for the new projects.

Wall+M families
Each Wall+M structural
framing and structural
connection family has its
subcategory which is used for
visual appearance settings in
the project.
„M_“ stands before Metric
families„ names and „ I_“
before Imperial families„.

Wall+M configurations
Wall+M framing, numbering, sheathing and shop drawing configurations are saved in
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Tools 4 Revit\Wall+M2015 Configurations catalogue. It‟s the same catalogue for Revit 2015, 2016 and 2017 versions.
The content from this catalogue can be copied to other users‟ computer
if needed:
One framing configuration contains a catalogue and XML file under the
same name

Tip
After framing a wall DO NOT use “Undo” (Undo button or Ctrl + Z) function, because configuration setting of a wall will be lost.
