Qatar Steel was established in 1974 as the first integrated steel plant in the Arabian Gulf. Commercial production commenced in 1978. The Company has operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Industries Qatar since 2003.
Qatar Steel is recognized as a regional leader in the steel industry. Production operations are based in Messaieed Industrial City, 45 kilometers south of Qatar’s capital, Doha where Qatar Steel’s corporate headquarters are based. The Company also operates a UAE based subsidiary – Qatar Steel Company FZE.
Inspired to meet the growing demand for steel in Qatar as well as the region in general, Qatar Steel has embarked upon a series of initiatives to modernize and expand its operations. These projects will elevate the company’s production capacity and further enhance the company’s role in the global steel industry.
Plant facilities now include a Midrex process based DRI/HBI combo mega module, electric arc furnaces with a ladle refining furnace, a continuous casting plant and rolling mills with the latest automated features. Additional facilities include: jetty facilities, a main power substation, quality control center, maintenance shops, storage and processing facilities for sea/fresh water, compressed air and natural gas and a medical clinic.
Today the plant occupies an area of 707,000 sq. meters, adjacent to which is a further 375,000 sq. meters plot reserved for future developments.

• BS4449:2005 GrB500B rebars are produced with low carbon equivalent & Weldable, whereas ASTM A615 Gr60, Gr75, Gr80, QS 600, ISO 6935-2:2007, B500B-R SASO ASTM A615:2015 are Non-Weldable.
• BS4449:2005 GrB500B rebars have High Strength Compared to ASTM A615 Gr60 which reduces steel consumption & congestion in structure, in turn reduces overall cost of project
• BS4449:2005 GrB500B rebars have High Yield Strength i.e. 500 MPa (Min) compared to ASTM A615 Gr60, without compromising on ductility
• BS4449:2005 GrB500B rebars have better bend performance, due to severe bend & re-bend angle. Rebars conforming to BS 4449:2005 Specification, are subjected to Fatigue testing and survive minimum 5 million stress cycles
• QS 600 with Yield Strength>600 MPa: Over the years rebar with yield strength 420MPa, 460MPa, 500MPa etc. conforming to BS4449/ASTM A 615 specifications were available in Qatar/GCC region. Rebar with strength i.e.YS>600MPa will reduce the steel consumption by around 20 % in construction, which in turn lowers the overall cost of structure. Using high strength rebar QS 600 can also lead to reduction in column size of heavily loaded structure and there is relief from rebar congestion.
• ASTM A706 Gr 60 rebar for concrete reinforcement intended for applications where restric-tive mechanical properties and chemical composition are required for compatibility with controlled tensile property applications or to enhance weldability.

Pulverized Limestone
Qatar Metals Coating Company (Q-Coat) is one of the largest in the world.
We produce fusion bonded epoxy coated steel reinforcing bars (FBECR) with an annual capacity of 100,000 M/T.
Founded in 1990 as a joint venture between Qatar Steel and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company.
We have established ourselves as a successful regional industrial enterprise and earned a good reputation for quality, safety, productivity and reliability.
Our FBECR products are sold in addition to GCC, Middle East and Far East which proved their success in protecting steel reinforcement against corrosion in a wide variety of concrete structures.
We are proud of our achievements to date and remain committed to continue our contribution towards our customer and product satisfaction.
1918
Quality Assurance:At Q-Coat, we are totally committed to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality in every area of our operations. This commitment to quality begins with the steel reinforcing bars that we source from QATAR STEEL COMPANY known throughout the gulf for its quality and reliability. The products are inspected for bar anchor profile, coating holidays, coating thickness, coating adhesion, and coating flexibility by 180 Deg. Bend tests at various stages of the production process.
The quality management system of Q-Coat complies with ISO 9001 quality standards applicable for the production of fusion bonded epoxy coated rebar.
Q-Coat’s technical expertise in epoxy coating is reflected in its consistent product quality with accreditations received from various authorities and companies, such as, KAHRAMAA (Qatar General Electricity & Water), QAFCO (Qatar Fertilizer Company) and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.
The application of fusion-bonded epoxy coating to steel reinforcement involves four major process steps:1. Surface Preparation: Rebars are blast cleaned to a near White Metal Finish using
steel abrasive grit.2. Heating: Rebars are heated up to 230 deg. Celsius using Induction Heater.3. Powder Application: Heated rebars are passed through a powder spray booth, where
fused particles melt to form a continuous film.4. Curing: Following powder application, coated rebars are cured by water quenching.

Epoxy Coated Rebars
With a vision to provide a solution to corrosion reinforcing ofsteel concrete, Muntajat offers Epoxy Coated Rebars.
Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coating is one of the corrosion resistive methods used extensively in construction to protect steel from corrosion, by preventing chlorides and moisture from reaching the surface of the steel. The coating provides long term adhesion to steel and ensures the reinforcing bars are protected over a wide temperature range and all climatic conditions to last for 75 to 100 years of service life.
Some of the main advantages are:• Long-term corrosion resistance• Excellent prevention to salt damage• Excellent impact resistance, bendability, and adhesion• Good bond strength with concrete
