NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER

9th grade - Plan• You should start planning now by

working hard to earn the best grades possible.

• Ask your counselor for a list of your school’s NCAA core courses to make sure you are taking NCAA-approved courses.

• Your school’s list of NCAA courses can be found at eligibilitycenter.org

10th grade - Register• Register at eligibilitycenter.org at

the beginning of your sophomore year.

• If you fall behind on courses, do not take shortcuts to catch up. Your counselor can help you by finding approved courses or programs that you can take.

NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER

11th grade - Study• Students should check with their

counselor to make sure they are ontrack to graduate on time.• Students should register to take

the ACT, SAT or both. Use the NCAA

Eligibility Center code “9999” as a score recipient.• At the end of the year, send your

transcripts to the NCAA.

12th grade - Graduate• Take the ACT or SAT again, if

necessary, and make sure to send your scores by using code 9999.

• Request your final amateurism certification after April 1.

• After you graduate, ask you counselor to upload your transcript with proof of graduation.

• Coaches understand scope of legal responsibilities that come with a coaching position

• Communication with parents, athletes on cancellations, reschedules, events are done professionally and in a timely manner

INJURIES + COMMUNICATION

• Any emails/notes/information regarding a athlete’s status or injury, please keep us in the loop

ASTHMA• Make sure you know which athletes

have asthma • THEY MUST HAVE THEIR INHALER AT

ALL TIMES (practice and games) OR THEY MAY NOT COMPETE!!

• Other condition • Diabetes • Sickle Cell• Food allergies

• Emphasize to all athletes that they MUST REPORT any injuries to us the day they occur as well as you

• If over the weekend, report to us on Monday after school

• If at an away event, report to us the next day or the coach can via email/text

• If an athlete sees a doctor at any point, they MUST get a NOTE stating if they are CLEARED, RESTRICTED or OUT. Not until they are cleared, can they return to practice.

CONCUSSIONS

• By Law, we must pull an athlete out of contest if they present with any of the concussion signs & symptoms

• Headache, dizziness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to noise, nausea, etc. • Athletes while be under a physicians care and will be placed into the Return to Learn Protocol• Once symptom free, completion of RTL and return to baseline on their IMPACT test they will

proceed with RTP protocol:• B ike• R un• A gility• I “in red” aka non-contact• N ormal practice • G ame• Athlete must be symptom-free at each stage to proceed to the next

• Protocol for communication with coaches…• 1 – Have your son or daughter talk to the coach first
