Topic: Introducing Y our Own Places

Focused topic: Presentation skills

Design: 3 slots ( 2 weeks) Level of prof iciency: Intermediate

Main skills: Speaking and listening

Sub-skills: Reading and writing



GENERAL OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, students should

be able to:

Communicate with each other by asking for and giving information

Use language for introduction

Take a pleasure in their presentation and participation in each activities

Identif y their creativity in producing theideas.



SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

A t the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

To use the correct language when asking and giving

the information.

Answer the questions given correctly

Use the comparatives and superlatives adjective whiledoing the presentation.

Handle the task and come out with their own idea and

creativity.

Lesson 1

Set induction ( 5 minutes)

A teacher shows some pictures at the airport to the

students.

Students have to guess the pictures and gives the

correct words to each pictures.



A CTIVITY 1 (10 MINUTES)

Whole class discussion

Teacher distributes the handouts

Teacher introduces to the students about the

topic of asking and giving informationTeacher explains and elaborates about the topic to

the students.




Individually activity

Teacher gives worksheet regarding the topic.

They have to complete the dialogue with the

suitable questions. Students are given their time to answer the

questions and complete all the blank spaces.

Teacher goes through the answer with the

students orally.



A CTIVITY 3 ( 70 MINUTES)

Group work activity

Students are asked to form into group. Each

group must have 5 members.

Teacher distributes a diff erent pictures to each group.

They are asked to make a short role play based

on the picture that they get from the teacher.



They are given time to discuss in the groups.

Teacher reminds them to use all the asking and givinginformation that they have learnt from the previous

lesson in the role play.

Closure ( 5 minutes) Teacher asks students the example that they can use

when asking and giving information.

Class dismisses.



LESSON 2Set induction (10 minutes)

A teacher shows a clip video of ´ Cuti-Cuti Malaysiaµ

to the students.

Teacher brainstorms the students the places that they

could recognize in the clip video.

Then, teacher asks students the most favorite place

that they like to visit.




Whole class activity ( Practicing comparative and

superlatives adjective forms)

Teacher distributes the handouts

Teacher introduces to the students about thecomparatives and superlatives adjectives forms.

Teacher gives worksheet to the students and it

should be done in class.

Teacher then discusses the answer with thewhole class.




Whole class ( Reading)

Teacher gives an article about ´ Holidays In

Malaysia and The Best Places To Go In

Malaysiaµ. Teacher assigns students to read the article

voluntarily.

Teacher helps students to identif y the certain

words that they do not understand in the

passage.

Based on the article, students are asked to choose

the best place that they mostly like to visit.




Group work discussion and presentation

Teacher assigns the students to sit into group. There

will be 4 members in a group.

From the activity 2, teacher once again asks students to discuss in the group about the best place

that they love to visit.

A fter they make a decision about the place, teacher

asks students to create their own brochure in order to promote their place.



They are asked to use all the information that they get

from the article to be written in the brochure.

They will be reminded to use all the comparatives and superlatives adjectives in their presentation.

Teacher shows example of travel brochures to the class

so that it can helps student to develop their ideas and

creativity. Presentation from each group.



CLOSURE (5 MINUTES)

Teacher asks a f ew students to give some

example of using comparatives and superlatives

sentences.

LESSON 3

Set induction ( 10 minutes)

Whole class interaction

A teacher shows a clip video of Perhentian Island

Malaysia to the students Teacher asks whether they have been there

before.

Teacher asks their opinion after they had

watched the video.




Whole class activity:

Language for Introductions

Teacher distributes the handouts to the students

Teacher introduces to the students about the languagefor introduction.




Pair work activity

Teacher gives a worksheet to the students

Teacher assigns them to do the task in pairs

They also are asked to practice the language for introduction with each other while discussing the

task.

Teacher discusses the answers with the whole

class.




Group work presentation Teacher plays once again the clip video

Teacher assigned the new task for the students. For this

time they are asked to work into group. Each group must

have at least 5 members. From the clip video, students are asked to design their

own utopia island in order to promote the place to the

tourist.

They will be provided with the blank map and theinstruction handout.



A t the end of the task, each group has to make a short

presentation based on what they have prepared in the

classroom. Teacher gives the f eedback after the presentation.



CLOSURE (5 MINUTES)

Teacher asks a f ew students to give example of

using language for introduction

Class dismisses.
