  • Data Science Education Ranking 2020

    2

The data science academic rankings by Analytics India Magazine have been celebrated for over six years in the industry. These are the only comprehensive rankings on academic institutions in the analytics and data science domain that judges the best-in-class training institutes and courses across their core offerings. In just a few years, they have become a benchmark for all data science educational needs in India.

These highly anticipated rankings are an industry benchmark and involve extensive primary research which is quantitative and numbers-driven, to provide a clear picture of how they compare against each other. The rankings provide the most balanced comparisons which have been trusted by students, academics, professionals and industry leaders over the years.

The rankings are judged on various performance indicators such as their core mission, faculty and teaching environment, knowledge transfer, course content, assistance post the course completion, pedagogy and more. These different parameters are individually rated to derive a collective ranking score.

This year we will be releasing 4 Data Science rankings:

    1. Online Data Science Courses in India – Ranking 2020 (Purely online courses)

    2. Part Time Data Science Courses in India – Ranking 2020 (Hybrid online + in-person courses)

    3. Full Time Data Science Courses in India – Ranking 2020 (Purely in-person courses)

    4. Bachelors Data Science Courses in India – Ranking 2020

Our earlier listings ranked just the top 10 courses in a category. Starting 2020, we will not restrict it to specified numbers.

Also, starting this year, we will make all the questionnaire data from the institutes public, to make these rankings transparent and unbiased.

1.1. The ranking methodology is to define the scores for various parameters determined of the academic institutions.

1.2. These parameters are under seven broadheads, and some have been further explained into relevant sub-heads. Each broad head has an overall weight assigned to it. And some of these broad heads have an appropriate weight distribution.

1.3. We have attempted to identify relevant data required to assign the best performance score under each of the sub-head. The questions chosen here are that the participating institution can easily provide data and is readily available.

1.4. We have devised a suitable metric pertinent to the questions in order to compute a score under each of the broad heads. The sub-head scores are then added to obtain scores for each individual head. The overall score is computed based on the weights allotted to each head. The overall score can take a maximum value of 100.

1.5. The institutions can then be rank-ordered based on their overall scores.
