See Section 8 for information on permissible exposure limits and threshold limit values
Section 3. Hazards Identification
Physical State and Appearance Colourless, liquid with irritating odour
Hazard Summary Toxic, irritant
Routes of Exposure Skin and eye contact, inhalation and ingestion
Potential Acute Health Effects Skin: Irritant.Prolonged and repeated contact will cause
irritation and potentially burns. Contact leaves burning and thencold sensation. Should not be absorbed through the skin.
Eyes: Irritant. Irritation may be slow to heal. Vapour may cause
eye irritation, discomfort and redness. Can cause corneal injury.

respiratory tract. Excessive exposure may cause unconsciousnessand death. May cause carboxyhemoglobinemia impairment of
the bloods ability to transport oxygen. Anesthetic effects can be
observed at levels in the range of 500 1000 ppm. Progressively
higher levels (over 1000 ppm) can cause dizziness, drunkenness, and as low as 10,000 ppm, unconsciousness and death. These
high levels may also cause cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heart
beat).Ingestion: Oral toxicity is low. Small amounts ingested
incidentally during handling are not considered likely to cause
injury. Larger amounts are considered harmful. Aspiration intothe lungs may occur during ingestion or vomiting, resulting in
lung injury.
Medical Conditions
Aggravated by Exposure
Crboxyhemoglobinemia may aggravate any pre-existing
condition sensitive to a decrease in available oxygen, such as
chronic ling disease, coronary artery disease or anemias
See Toxicological Information Section 11
Additional Hazard None
Identification Remarks
Section 4. First Aid Measures
Eye Contact Flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Seek
medical attention.
Skin Contact Flush area with water. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
Launder clothing before reuse.
Inhalation Remove victim to fresh air. If there is difficulty breathing, seekimmediate medical attention, give artificial respiration.
Ingestion Give two glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting. Lay victim on leftside to prevent aspiration of any vomit. Seek immediate medical
attention.
Notes to Physician Rapid absorption through the lungs if aspirated and cause systemic
effects, the decision of whether to induce vomiting or not should be
made by a physician. If lavage is performed, suggest endotrachealand/or esophageal control. Danger from lung aspiration must be
weighed against toxicity when considering emptying the stomach. No
specific antidote. Supportive care. Treatment should be based on thejudgment of the physician in response to the reactions of the patient. If
burn is present, treat as any thermal burn after decontamination.
Additional First AidRemarks
None
