Known sensor spacing(usually = 1m)S
Two axle sensors (rubber tube, piezo strips) are installed on the road a known distance apart (eg 1 metre), and connected to the Roadside Unit.

The System calculates the vehicle’s speed, using the simple physical formula:
Velocity(V) = Distance(s) / Time(Δt)

Δt = – The System calculates Time (Δt) by subtracting “tB” from “tA”, (which is simply the time difference between the first two sensor strikes, or “hits”).

The System then measures the time offsets to subsequent axles to calculate axle spacings (Sp1, Sp2, etc).

Once the axle spacings are known, the System can “look up” the spacings in a “Classification Scheme”, to determine the vehicle’s class.

Works as an axle sensor by emiting an air pulse when struck by tyres.

Provide lateral stability to tube installations and reduce tube slap .

To secure tube to the road with figure-8 cleats & centre lane flaps.
Basic tool kit...

• Traffic control (to comply with applicable standards).
To be properly installed, tubes must be:
• Correctly spaced;
• Parallel to each other;
• Perpendicular to vehicle travel;
• Same length from wheel path to Roadside Unit, checked after installation.
