Who we are and what we do  Tile Hill Wood has been a Language College since 1998. We enjoy excellent accommoda on  in the Open Language Centre with spe-cialist well  equipped  classrooms. We  have  two  computer  suites one of them fi ed with new PCs including webcams and Skype.  The  department  consists  of  15  teachers  and  2  specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants.  French is taught from Year 7 to Year 9. A er four weeks of taster sessions, Year 7 students choose a second modern language from German, Spanish and Japanese.  Students con nue with both languages to the end of KS3.   We also offer a highly successful CLIL programme throughout Year 7; Science, PSHE, Music and Maths are taught through the medium of French.   Students have to study at least one language to GCSE and many students choose to con nue with two or to start an Italian GCSE ab ini o. A wide range of community languages are offered through the Communi-ty Language Services.  In the West Coventry Sixth Form, our joint sixth form with our partner boys’ school, Woodlands, A Levels are offered in all four languages. 

 A wide range of residen al experience is available; A Level work experience in Mu-nich  and  St.  E enne.   A German  trip  to  the  Cologne  Christmas Market  is  taking place this November. Japanese students have the opportunity to take part  in two exchanges in Year 10 and Year 12.  A Spanish trip to Barcelona is taking place Easter 2013. The Year 8/9 and 11s have the opportunity to go to Normandy and to Paris every year.
