born after all the excitement andhype from the recent Royal Wed-ding, however, all of this is nothingmore than a magical coincidence.Being a newlywed, I decided tocreate a handbook for all the fairmaidens in the land to carry withthem whilst on their wedding prep voyagers...My Fairytale Weddingsees its second issue this monthand what a journey it has been. Al-

though much time and effort had been contributed to my special day last December, I now more thanever nd myself totally engulfed inthe beauty of weddings. The pastfew years spent researching forthis publication and the release of the rst issue and our website hasmotivated me to produce a publi-cation that has the very best ideas,concepts, images, tips, guidelinesand contact details for all bridal

families.

Keeping to our promise of present-ing a truly South African publica-tion, we will continue to considerall the variety and diversity wehave as far as the different racegroups and cultures prevail in ourland. A magical story began when a girl met a royal prince,

they fell in love and their fairytale began. Kate

a and William’s ten year courtship nally entered

its next chapter as they wed on 29th April 2011 at Westmin-

ster Abbey, London, England. While many may agree that

their tale is denitely one that could easily be adapted from

a movie, they did have their own bits of ups and downs as

does many other couples often do, only difference here is

that William just happens to be second in the line to the

English throne (his dad, Charles, is rst). This means that,

at some point in the future, William will likely be crowned

King of England, and Kate, who

comes from a middle-class, com-

pletely UN-royal background, will

be the Queen of England.

In September 2001 the couple met

at the University of St Andrews

where they shared a passion for art

history. A year later they moved

to a student house with two other

friends. In early 2006, they were

seen again at Klosters, days before

William began his army training.

By March that year Kate was invitedto the Royal Box at the Chelten-

ham Gold Cup horse race. But 12

months later the couple split only

to get back together in late 2007. In

April 2008 Kate attended William’s

Royal Air Force graduation. And nally in 2010 Will popped

the question during a holiday in Kenya. And so the Royal

wedding preparation began. Set to be the biggest event

since Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, amedia frenzy began with the ofcial announcement of their

engagement. If it seems like planning a NORMAL wedding

would be hard, try planning one whose guest list includes

kings, queens, princes and princesses from countries all

around the world! Lady Elizabeth Anson, the Queen’s cous-

in and party planner to both British and Hollywood royalty,

was called upon to help the couple plan their wedding. It

took months to make sure every last detail was perfect for

the Royal Wedding - we heard that this party cost a pretty

penny to put on: over $70 million!

There were almost 2,000 people invited

to this wedding. Some of the high-

prole guests were David and Victoria

Beckham, Elton John and Joss Stone.

Apparently, Kanye West was invited

to the shindig, but we did not see him

among the guests. Prince William and

Miss Middleton’s wedding reception

following their marriage at the Abbey

was a lavish affair, with the Queen host-

ing 600 guests at Buckingham Palace

including more than 50 members of theRoyal Family, 40 members of foreign

royal families and 60 international

heads of state. Prince Charles later

hosted an “intimate” dinner for 300 of

the couple’s closest family and friends.

The Queen and Prince Charles had ensured that no expense

was spared to give the newly-weds a memorable day, but

more than just a lavish spend it was a day of much

love and affection for the families and a day that willdenitely go down in history as a fairytale come true.

The fairytale truly began when Prince William proposed to Kate in October 2010 while on holiday in Ke-nya with the engagement ring of his late mother. The ring cost £30,000 at the time Diana wore it in 1981and is an oval 18-carat blue sapphire ring set amid 14 brilliant cut diamonds in 18-karat white gold andis estimated to be worth $500,000. Prince William said that the giving of his mother’s ring was symbolic

of her presence on one of the most important days of his life – his engagement. As he explained to themedia: “As you may recognize now, it is my mother’s engagement ring. So of course, it is very special to me, and Kate is very special to me now as well. It is only right the two are put together.” Kate debuted herengagement ring at St. James’s Palace in London for the ofcial engagement shoot with the media. She

paired the sapphire ring with a royal blue dress by Issa.

UK based jewellery brand Clogau Gold has launched a Royal collection of

bead charms to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and CatherineMiddleton. The 41-piece collection is made from 9ct yellow gold with rose

gold detailing as well as silver bead charms. Pieces include a carriage,horseshoe, a ring cushion with two rings placed on top, a tiara, a cake and

You just cannot be a princess without a tiara...and we so glad that Princess Catherine decided

to go for one for her special day and opt out of owers in her hair as she had considered. Katechose to wear the Cartier “halo” tiara, which wasmade in 1936 and purchased by the Duke of York (later King George VI) for his wife, Elizabeth’smother. Queen Elizabeth received it as an 18th-

birthday present, at which time she was PrincessElizabeth. The delicate headpiece, which is as un-derstated as a headband of diamonds can be, waslent to Kate by the Queen, and was her “something

borrowed,” though there’s a chance she’ll come

into one of her own soon: the Queen’s 1981 wed-ding gift to Diana was the Cambridge Lovers’ KnotTiara. Diana wore a Spencer-family tiara to her

wedding. To complete her bridal look and

her “something new,” Kate’searrings, custom-made by Robinson Pelham tomatch her tiara, were a present from her parents.They were diamond-set stylised oak leaves witha pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pave setdiamond acorn suspended in the centre. The ear-rings, with acorn motifs, was inspired by the fresh,Middleton-family crest. Kate’s

wedding ring, which seemed to have given William

a bit of difculty in the slipping on, is Welsh gold by Wartski, who also crafted Welsh-gold wedding bands for Prince Charles and Camilla.

To really burn fat and ensure a body t for a prin-cess, vary the speed of your workout. Running ata high intensity for three minutes and a moderateintensity for ve will ensure all of your musclesare working hard and help tone your abdomen.

ROWINGFor super-toned arms, rowing is the best thing to

banish bingo wings and impress the future king. An intense 30-minute rowing session can burn300 calories. A session on the rowing machine

will provide great strength, exibility and posturein your upper body.

WEIGHTS Adding weights to a cardio routine will help withmuscle denition and sculpting body shape. As

weights are essentially the same as resistancetraining, it will help improve co-ordination andincrease bone density as well as improving per-formance during cardio routines. Doing step-upsand push-ups alongside squats and lunges using

an exercise band will also give the same effect.For best results, do repeat each move 10 to 12times, breaking just long enough to catch your

breath in between. Repeat for two to three sets.

YOGA Lactic acid build-up in the muscles from vigorouscardio exercising contributes to muscle fatigueso it’s vital to use yoga stretches in betweenregular workouts to release any lactic acid build-up. Forward bends stretch the lower back and

hamstrings. This helps you let go of tension in the back, neck and shoulders, increasing the exibil-ity of the spine. Backward bends open the chest,rib cage and hips, building strength in the armsand shoulders. They also add to exibility in theshoulders, while helping ease the tension fromthe front of the body and hips. Seated asanas - orposes - increase suppleness in the hips and lower

back. Strengthening the whole back, they increasethe exibility of the spine and elasticity of thehips, knees, ankle and groin. Balancing asanas are

essential for cultivating muscle tone and physicalharmony as well as strength and agility. Great foroverall posture.

Despite the gossip surroundingher eating habits, Kate sticks to a

low GI diet of lean meats, sh and vegetables tostay healthy. She loves “summer foods,” includ-ing beans, salads and salmon, and althoughshe doesn’t deny herself, she is believed to beextremely disciplined in what she eats. Kate hasalso been linked to the Dukan diet, originated

1. Soak fenugreek seeds in water, make a paste out of it and apply it on the scalp. Wash the hair after 40minutes. This is one of the best remedies for hair loss.2. Both Prince William and Catherine had taken a great deal of interest and care in choosing the music fortheir service and had selected two choirs (The Choir of Westminster Abbey and The Chapel Royal Choir),one orchestra (The London Chamber Orchestra) and two fanfare teams (The Fanfare Team from theCentral Band of the Royal Air Force and The State Trumpeters of The Household Cavalry) to perform themusic at Westminster Abbey. The music included a number of well-known hymns and choral works as

well as some specially-commissioned pieces. Following the wedding service at Westminster Abbey, ClaireJones, the Ofcial Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales performed at a Reception hosted by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. U.K singer Ellie Goulding was the ofcial royal wedding singer at theroyal reception. A source said “Kate wanted to make sure there were songs everyone would get up anddance to.” The party, which the queen excused herself from, nished around 3am and certainly shows thatthe Duke and Duchess are still very much of young spirit.

If you’re planning a royal theme - a real Cinderella-style shindig - you need to decide: are you REALLY going royal, or are you just playing fairy princess? If you’re going fairy princess, then you have a littleroom to play around. You can choose a lavender paper, and decorate it with gilded scrolling. You can be

whimsical with your wording, for example
