Cover.

Indie recognizable font, links to individuality.

Dressed in unusual clothes just like the back part of this . Their Aztec outfit link to their brand image being unique and cultured. The outfit also looks vintage and exotic which makes their brand more symbolic and recognizable.

MGMT have songs called ‘The Youth’ and ‘Kids’ the group of people gathered in this photo could reflect this and connote being young. Youth often has rebellious connotations which links back to our genre’s stereotypical rebellion characteristics.

The sea is very relevant here as our genre often involves nature and the sea could connote calmness which opposes their image and song titles such as ‘Weekend Wars’.

The moon is central, which draws the audiences attention to it, this links to their song called ‘Of moons birds and monsters’ the moon again links back to the theme of nature often shown in indietronica.

Genre focus’ on nature, so both the backdrop, moon, sea and fire link to this.

Wearing bright blue face paint could connote hiding his identity behind a mask and perhaps being deceitful.

Parental advisory shows that this album is explicit which often appeals to adults and shows the bands rebellion.

Dead ferret around his neck, links back to nature but also to being unconventional and not following a crowd.

Again, there is a song called ‘Future Reflections’. In this photo the sea is a focal point which links to nature this is what our genre generally promotes.

Fire in the image links to MGMT’s song called ‘Weekend Wars’ as fire often connotes war and disagreement.

Individual, colourful, vintage outfits are used to create a youthful, unique feel to try and make the band memorable and distinctive.

Inside.Black and white colour scheme links back to the way this genre often tries to look vintage and the CD in the sleeve contrasts this with fluorescent orange.

Money is seen as valuable so the way they are burning shows that the band oppose society and do not conform.

Spears are used as a weapon which links to their song ‘Weekend War’. It’s presence here shows MGMT’s mischievousness.

Logo in the middle reinforces the brand image of MGMT, it is central just like the moon is on the front cover, this creates a consistent image of the brand.

Tattoos often connote youth which is a strong message that this album is giving out.

Aztec styled pattern on his hat shows different cultures which could show how the band appeals to a wide variety of people. It also creates a consistent image as Aztec is also used in the images on the front cover.

Topless could show the audience that they don’t conform with society and that they are their own unique people. They are covered in blood also which is unusual and automatically connotes negative connotation's.

Crucifix necklace could show that the group have strong religious beliefs and views.

Smoke connotes rebellion which is something we often see in our genre, it also is used to create mystery because the audience cant see what is burning.

CD and Leaflet.

The CD disc is made to look vintage by the font and the outline. The outline makes the disc look like an old vinyl, this links to how this genre try to recreate a vintage look to appeal to a wide demographic.

This pamphlet looks as if it is handwritten, this has a more personal feel for the audience.

The opposite side of the pamphlet is a bright psychedelic pattern, this opposes the generic handwritten side as it is a lot more commercial, this could be to appeal to a wider market.

The bright colour scheme opposes the black and white, neutral sleeve that itis placed in, this could connote their variety anddiversity as a band. It could also connote how they stand out from normality and that they are unique.
