Week 6: Unit 6The Study of Probability

Introduction

1. What is the topic and title of your project?

2. How would you describe it? (To others at your school, or to parents?)

3. Who are the students?

1. Grade level

2. Ability, cultures or other characteristics

Rationale: Why is the topic you have selected important?

How does it relate to secondary mathematics content?

What learning outcomes do you expect? State learning objectives.

To what national and/or local standards will it align?

# Why is the topic, content or approach important?

Instructional Plan Project

Instructional Plan Project Two lessons. Description should include as relevant:

1. Materials (include UDL)

2. Questions to guide student learning:

3. Instructional Strategies

4. Use of technology

5. Procedures for activities, investigations or experiments

Assessment: Assess student learning based on your objectives

1. Explain how you will evaluate students throughout the learning cycle. Include both summative and formative forms of assessment.

2. Design an assessment tool (checklist, rubric, holistic scoring guides, performance tasks, quiz, test, or self-assessment) tied into student objectives.

The IPP is due by the end of Unit 6

Research Project The Final Project should include the following elements:

1. Introduction: The Introduction should state the topic and the thesis statement for the essay. The thesis statement tells the reader what the essay will be about, and what point you, the author, will be making.

2. Body: The body of the paper contains the key points of the paper. Main ideas and supporting ideas from your research should be used to describe, explain, support or argue your thesis. A minimum of five peer-reviewed articles or studies should be discussed.

3. Summary and Conclusions: In this section you sum up final points and draw conclusions that provide perspectives on the thesis of the essay.

Research Project

The Research paper is due at the end of Unit 7.

Do NOT worry about word count.
