time in the Fall of 2016. Requires the ACC Cover Sheet &

SECTION III These specific scholarships require the completion of a SEPARATE
APPLICATION FORM.
SECTION IV Part A: Alvin Rotary Club Scholarships. These require the completion
of the ALVIN ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP COVER SHEET
FORM and the 2016 LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
FORM.
Part B: Alvin Sunrise Rotary Club Scholarships. These require the
completion of the ALVIN SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB

SECTION V Marguerite Edwards Scholarships and Camp Mohawk Scholarships require
one application for the two scholarships and have required recommendation forms for teachers and counselor. Applicants for the Camp Mohawk must be in the top 25% of the class at the completion of their junior year and applicants for the Marguerite Edwards Scholarships must be in the top 15% of the class at the completion of their junior year.(June 2015).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR THE
2016 MHS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
Instructions for SECTION I, SECTION II, SECTION IV and SECTION V
1. Complete the 2016 Local Scholarship Application Form. Proofread the application.
2. Print your application.
3. Change scholarship name on application to the next scholarship in Section I, II, IV or V
that you will be applying. Continue until you have completed all the applications in those
sections that you are eligible.
4. Attach Academic Resume.
5. Write a letter to the scholarship committee concerning your goals and future plans (typed).
The letter needs to be personalized to the committee which will be reading it.
6. If required, attached an essay. Typed only. Only include an essay if the scholarship
requires it and be sure to address the essay’s topic.
7. Attach two letters of recommendation to each application. Exceptions: The confidential
letters of recommendation for the Marguerite Edwards Scholarship/Camp Mohawk
Scholarship and the Manvel Maverick Booster Club Athletic Scholarship will be sent
directly to Mrs. Collier by the evaluators.
8. Staple each applications (See exceptions in Turn-in procedures). Use only one staple.
9. Do not request transcripts. We will request them for you when your completed
application(s) are received.
10. Return all applications to Mrs. Collier (C138) NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 16, AT
3:00 P.M. Applications received after this day and time will be disqualified from
competition.
Remember Sections II, IV & V require separate cover sheets as well. Go to those
sections to find those cover sheets.
Instructions for Section III Applications. On the website, click on name of the
scholarship(s) in Section III that you will be applying and complete the application and print.
Attach your resume, letter to scholarship committee and two letters of recommendation.
Helpful hints…
Pick up or print the 2016 Local Scholarship Packet.
READ the packet and mark the scholarships to which you are applying
Fill out the proper application for the scholarship.
Type all applications. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
Have your parents sign the application, if needed.
Provide Academic Resume in prescribed format.
o Attach resume to each scholarship application.
o Print on one side of the paper.
Write your letter to the committee in correct letter format.
o Personalize each letter.
o Sign each letter.
Turn in your Volunteer Hours Documentation before the turn-in day.

This is available in the College and Career Center or online on the
‘Local Scholarship Page’ of the ‘College, Career and Scholarship’
link on the Alvin ISD web site.
5. Place the MHS Local Scholarship Turn-in Sheet on top of the
completed applications.
Applications should be organized in the order on the turn-in sheet.
Bind all applications together with a binder clip. One will be
provided if needed.
6. Bring applications to the College and Career Center by 3 p.m. on
February 16.

SECTION I - MHS
ACCAEOP SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000 per year- $500 per semester Fall 2016 and Spring
2017) this scholarship is for the student majoring in one of the following: Business
Administration, Computer Information Technology, Management, Office Administration.
A student needs to be ranked in the top 50% of their class. Will be attending ACC in the
Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters taking at least 12 hours and maintain a 2.5 GPA to
continue on scholarship for the next semester. Financial need may be a determining
factor.
ALVIN A&M MOTHERS’ CLUB SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) accepted at Texas A&M
in College Station for Fall 2016.
ALVIN AREA RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL SCHOLARSHIP –
(2-$1,000) The student must be in the top 50% of the class and planning a career in
education. The student must be willing to be in a mentoring program and complete a
questionnaire about interest in education.
ALVIN MASONIC LODGE SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) Student must have participated in
extracurricular activities for at least 4 years through his/her high school career and also
have a great moral turpitude. In addition, the applicant must write an essay of 500 to 750
words about Texas Masonry and its relation to our Texas Education System.
Furthermore, the applicant will write a personal letter to the committee about their future
college plans and career goals. MHS Only
ALVIN ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR SCHOLARSHIP – ($500)
Community involvement, academics, financial need, letter should include
community activities
ALVIN YOUTH LIVESTOCK & ARENA ASSOCIATION. ($500) The recipient of
this scholarship must be a member of AYLAA in good standing. The student must
complete and pass 12 accredited hours at a college or technical school. Before money is
sent, verification by means of an official college transcript must be sent to the AYLAA
Treasurer c/o Mrs. Casie Achille at P.O. Box 1596, Alvin TX 77511.
ALVIS GROHMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - ($500) senior at MHS, must attend
a Texas Junior College or Community College or a Texas University in Fall of 2016,
plan to major in Business Administration, Education, Engineering, History, Interior
Design, or Social Studies, financial need not considered. MHS Only
ASVAB SCHOLARSHIP - (Varies) seniors who took the ASVAB, picked up their scores and
who did the career analysis connected with the ASVAB are eligible to apply for this
scholarship. Selection will be based upon your essay of what you learned from doing the
“Find Your Interest” in the ASVAB Career Exploration Guide. MHS Only
ATPE SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $500) must attend college during the 2016-2017 school
year and plan to become a teacher. Include an essay about teaching – “Why I Want to
Become a Teacher.” Be sure to include what you want to teach and the grade level. No
more than two pages long, typed, double-spaced, 12 pt. font minimum.

CHRISTINA WILLIAMSON CROW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000)
a scholarship for medically disadvantaged or disabled students. Selection criteria:
1. Academic Achievement. 2. Financial Need. 3. School and Community Activities
FLOYD & MAGGIE KETTLER MEMORIAL/KIWANIS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP –
($500) “B” average or better, two teacher recommendations, financial need NOT
considered MHS Only
IVAN GARZA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) must have attended Fairview Junior
High as a student and plans to attend college, university, or technical school during the
2016-2017 school year. Selection criteria: 1. Academic Achievement. 2. Financial
Need. 3. School and Community Activities. Preference will be given to a student or
former student in the AVID Program. Include an essay addressing the following:
“Explain an obstacle that you have overcome and how you persevered during this
difficult time”.
JOSHUA AARON FITZWATER CHRISTIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND - ($500)
Applicants for this scholarship should be called to full-time Christian ministry. This
ministry can be pastoral, youth or music ministry within the church. The applicant will
need to attend in the Fall of 2016 a Bible school or church sponsored school that will
enable the applicant to become a full-time minister of the gospel.
LUCILLE B. MASON SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000) must have attended E.C. Mason for
Kindergarten through 5th grade, be a graduate of Manvel High School, and be in top 50%
of class. In addition to a personalized letter to the committee, the applicant will write an
essay “How my years at E.C. Mason Elementary have prepared or inspired me for my
future plans.” The essay will be the determining factor in selection. MHS Only
MANVEL LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $500) Recipients of these scholarships will
be selected based on volunteer service, essay, extracurricular activities, and leadership
positions. Applicants will be required to submit an essay explaining how they feel
volunteer community service can benefit the volunteer as well as how it can impact and
benefit the community as a whole. Student must be enrolled in a college or university for
fall 2016 to receive the funds. Award winners will need to attend a Manvel Lion’s Club
meeting prior to claiming scholarship and briefly talk about future plans. MHS Only
MANVEL LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF LANCE CORPORAL
TODD BOLDING ($500) Male or female athlete for at least two years, letter from
teacher or coach, financial need considered, preference given to Manvel, Iowa Colony,
and Rosharon students. Student must be enrolled in a college or university for fall 2016
to receive the funds. Award winners will need to attend a Manvel Lion’s Club meeting
prior to claiming scholarship and briefly talk about future plans. MHS Only
MANVEL MOB SCHOLARSHIP - ($1,000) Must be an active graduating Alvin or Manvel
High School student, and one parent must be an AISD Alumni. (Submit parent name(s),
and year(s) of graduation) Applicant must write a personalized letter to the committee
describing your involvement in high school, your experiences there, your college intent,
your career goals, and tell us your GPA. Two teacher recommendations are required.
GPA is not a deciding factor.

MHS HOSA SCHOLARSHIP – ($250) must be a daily active Manvel HOSA
member, enrolled in an Health Occupations class during this school year, attend
accredited college in fall. MHS Only
NOLAN RYAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – ($4,000 – payable $1,000 per
year for 4 consecutive years dependent upon maintaining a 2.5 GPA) submit
grades at the end of each year, academics, top 50 % of class, financial need,
school and community involvement, essay suggested (no topic given), 2 letters of
recommendation (at least one from a teacher during the senior year), provide SAT or
ACT scores. MHS Only
PROGRESSIVE STUDENT LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $1,000) this student
needs to be active in school activities, has shown leadership, has documented volunteer
service hours. The student may attend the college of their choice. One scholarship will
be based on financial need and the other will be based on academic success. MHS Only
RILEY and YVONNE GODWIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000)
involvement in FFA for two or more years, one of the two letters of recommendation will
be from an FFA teacher
ROBERT & JEFF JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) college of
choice. MHS Only
TONY PARTEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. (Amount varies) This is a scholarship for
students pursuing a career in Auto Mechanics. Recipients of this scholarship will be
selected based on intended Auto Mechanic field of study and financial need. Various School
Districts
UIL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP – (Varies) Must have participated in the UIL
academic program. Discuss experience in UIL academic competitions, the
benefits you have received by participating in UIL academics, and outline your
educational and career goals in the letter of application.
UNCLE JIM BARHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - ($1,000) Must be an active
graduating Alvin or Manvel High School student, and one parent must be an AISD
Alumni. (Submit parent name(s), and year(s) of graduation) Applicant must write a
personalized letter to the committee describing your involvement in high school, your
experiences there, your college intent, your career goals, and tell us your GPA. Two
teacher recommendations are required. GPA is not a deciding factor.
WASTE CONNECTIONS SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000) top 50% of class,
participation in school and/or community activities, plan to attend a two-year or four-year
university, applicant needs to show interest/making a difference in the environment. In
addition to the letter to the committee, write an essay (up to 500 words) titled
“Recycling… How It Helps the Environment.” MHS Only

SECTION II - MHS
The following scholarships are for students planning to attend Alvin Community College
full-time in the Fall of 2016. The 2016 Local Scholarship Application is required. The first set of
scholarships is given by Alvin Community College and the student must be enrolled for the fall of
2016; the scholarships in the second set are through private donors which are located in other
sections of the package.
These scholarships take one application. Download the MHS ACC Cover Sheet and check the
scholarships you wish to apply.

maintain 2.5 GPA, must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester, no specific major
BEN DAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) major in drafting, maintain 2.5 GPA,
must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester
BILL & DONNA GARDIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,300 total for two years) top
25% of class, maintain 2.5 GPA, must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester
JOSE CASTILLO SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) top 25% of class, maintain 3.0 GPA, must take a
minimum of 12 hours each semester, financial need considered
JUDGE WEBB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($600) major in criminal justice or attend
the Police Academy, top 1/3 of class, maintain 2.5 GPA, must take a minimum of 12
hours per semester
OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,500) maintain 2.5 GPA, must take a minimum of 12
hours per semester
PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP - ($1,800) top 10% of class, must enroll in Fall 2016,
awarded to the student who exemplifies the principle upon which a comprehensive
community college has been established. Student needs to be active in student council,
class government, clubs or other community service activities

ROY STUBBS FAMILY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000) top 50% of class,
active in high school and community, must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester,
financial need considered
RUBY WEBB PETERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- ($600) top 1/3 of class, maintain
2.5 GPA, must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester, active in student council, class
government, clubs or other community services, financial need considered
RUTH WEBB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($600) top 1/3 of class, maintain 2.5 GPA,
must take a minimum of 12 hours per semester, financial need may be considered

SECTION III - MHS
The following scholarships require the use of a specific club or organization application.
Applications are available online at www.alvinisd.net/collegeandcareer.
ADAM LEE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Varies, $500 - $4,000) Recipients of this
scholarship will be selected based upon community service record, essay, extracurricular
activities and leadership positions, ACT or SAT score, demonstration of reliability and
integrity, and economic need. The student will be attending school Fall 2016.
Application is online at adamleescholarship.org. The application will include personal,
service extracurricular, financial information; a short essay; two recommendation letters;
an official transcript. Transcripts can be electronically sent or mailed to Adam Lee
Scholarship Foundation, 4321 Honduras, Corpus Christi TX 78411. Follow the

Deadline: March 15st.
AHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP for MHS – (2 - $1,000) one parent
must be AHS alumni, must submit parent’s name(s) and year(s) of graduation from
AHS, please include mother’s maiden name, include work and volunteer
activities in the activities section of the application, in a letter to the scholarship
committee address what your AHS experience has meant to you, (letter needs
to be well written), college of choice MHS Only
ALVIN BLUE SANTA PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP - (2 - $500- 1 per school) Applicants
for this scholarship need to be active in school. Volunteerism hours will be a major
deciding factor in selection as well as financial need. In a letter to the selection
committee, include voluntary service hours and activities and how volunteerism has
helped you as a person. This scholarship can only be used at Alvin Community
College.
ALVIN EXTENSION CLUB SCHOLARSHIP – (unknown) active in 4-H
during high school, one letter of recommendation, letter from applicant detailing
4-H activities
ALVIN FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $600) must have a
parent or grandparent who is active in Alvin Food Service Association, academics
and financial need considered, must include GPA on application or in letter
ALVIN ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – (4 -$1,000) These
scholarships will be given to students in the top 10% of the class. This will not be a
need-based scholarship, but an academic scholarship.
ALVIN SOROPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIP – ($500) This scholarship will be given to one (or
more) females in Alvin ISD. Qualifications: 2.8 GPA or higher, significant
extracurricular, work, and/or volunteer experiences, enrolling in academic or certificate
program, Fall 2016. Requirements include an essay of no more than 500 words—
describing a leadership role, extra-curricular activities, or classes—and two letters of
reference.

ALVIN-MANVEL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP – (8 - $1,000 - $250
per year) The applicant must be a graduating senior and meets college entrance
requirements. The student must be a paid-up member of the K of C, Council 6403; or a
child of a paid-up member of K of C, Council 6403; or child of a deceased member of
the K of C, Council 6403; or a sibling of a paid-up member of the K of C, Council 6403;
or a grandchild of a paid-up or deceased member of K of C, Council 6403. Selection will
be based on scholastic ability, participation in high school, church, and community
activities, financial need, must enroll full time and work toward a Bachelor’s Degree.
You can turn in the application on February 16 with the local scholarships or send
to the K of C by the Deadline: March 20, 2016.
CHOCOLATE BAYOU COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION – (5 - $1,000)
applicant or either of the applicants parents must be a member of CBCFCU with
an account in good standing, must be planning to attend a two or four-year
accredited college or university, financial need, academic stability, leadership &
volunteer service activities considered, essay required, provide a copy of your
FAFSA Expected Family Contribution (EFC),, transcript, applications are also
online at www.cbcfcu.coop and need to be returned to CBCFCU.
Deadline: April 4, 2016
INEOS CHOCOLATE BAYOU WORKS SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING
& MATH SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $1,000) A parent must be employed by INEOS
Chocolate Bayou Works, attend any accredited institution beyond high school in the fall
of 2016, applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 scale (non-weighted) to qualify,
provide the following: school activities and organizations, honors and awards,
community involvement, considerations and essay. The applicant will be majoring in
either Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
INEOS CHOCOLATE BAYOU WORKS TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000)
A parent must be employed by INEOS Chocolate Bayou Works, attend any accredited
institution beyond high school in the fall of 2016, applicant must have a minimum GPA
of 3.0/4.0 scale (non-weighted) to qualify, provide the following: school activities and
organizations, honors and awards, community involvement, considerations and essay.
The applicant will be majoring a Technology field.
LANDON LIPTACK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000) Please include a copy of
your academic resume, a letter to the scholarship committee stating your reasons for
wanting to attend college and two letters of recommendation. MHS Only
MANVEL FFA BOOSTER CLUB – ($500) must be a daily active Manvel FFA member,
enrolled in an Ag Science class during this school year, attend an accredited college in
fall. MHS Only
MANVEL MAVERICKS BOOSTER CLUB ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP – (12 - $1,000)
six males and six females, participate in athletics three years, letter to committee
addressing the topics in the application, one teacher recommendation, and the two
recommendation forms to coach and AP are required. MHS Only

MANVEL POLICE ASSOCIATION BLUE SANTA PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP –
(1 - $1,000) Applicants for these scholarships need to be active in school. Volunteerism
hours will be a major deciding factor in selection as well as financial need. In a letter to
the selection committee, include voluntary service hours and activities and how
volunteerism has helped you as a person.
WILLIAM & LINDA KETTLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $500) Applicant
must have attended school in AISD for their entire education, from 1st grade until
graduation. Active participation in school and community is a requirement. GPA is not a
deciding factor, but knowing you did your best is! In a letter addressed to this
scholarship committee, please describe your experience of growing up and attending
school in the Alvin community; include your involvement in school related activities, as
well as in the Alvin community.

3. Your Academic Resume
4. A personalized letter to the Alvin Sunrise Rotary Club Scholarship Committee telling
of your career plans and goals and other information that you feel the committee
needs to know. Explain how furthering your education will allow you to become a
better citizen and serve your community.
5. Two recommendation letters
ALVIN SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB INTERACT SCHOLARSHIP – ($1,000) Top
25% of class, Interact Club member, must have attended AISD junior and senior years,
college of choice MHS Only
ALVIN SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP –
($1,000) Top 50% of class, must have attended AISD junior and senior years, attend a
trade school/technical or community college with a declared major in a hands-on technical

ALVIN SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP – (2 - $1,000)
Student must rank in the 11th to 25th percent in class, must have attended AISD junior and
senior years, must have volunteer hours documented with College and Career Counselor,
school and community activities, college of choice
ALVIN SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB OPPORTUNITY PLUS SCHOLARSHIP – (2 -

Marguerite Edwards and Camp Mohawk Scholarships
Marguerite Edwards Scholarship - Rank – Top 15% as of June 2015 (Rank 1 – 99 eligible
MHS); Attend an accredited college – Fall 2016; Award Criteria: Academic standing, SAT or
ACT Scores, School and community activities, Leadership positions held, Letter to committee,
Teacher recommendations (2 from teachers in your intended major, if possible) and Counselor
recommendation; Financial Need NOT considered
Camp Mohawk Scholarship - Rank - Top 25% as of June 2015 (Rank 1 – 165 eligible MHS);
Attend an accredited college – Fall 2016; Award Criteria: Academic standing, SAT or ACT
Scores, School and community activities, Leadership positions held, Letter to committee,
Teacher recommendations (2 from teachers in your intended major, if possible); and Financial
Need considered
Amount of each scholarship varies from year to year.
Note to applicants:
1. Students applying for the Marguerite Edwards Scholarship will
automatically be considered for the Camp Mohawk Scholarship. Complete
all of the application. The financial aid information will not affect the
Marguerite Edwards Scholarship selection.
2. Marguerite Edwards Scholarship applicants must meet class rank
requirement.
TO APPLY:
1. Complete Marguerite Edwards / Camp Mohawk Scholarship Cover Sheet.
2. Complete 2016 Local Scholarship Application. The “Scholarship Name” on the
application is MARGUERITE EDWARDS / CAMP MOHAWK .
3. Write your letter to the Edwards/Mohawk Scholarship Committee stating your
educational plans and other information.
4. Distribute teacher and counselor recommendation forms. These will be returned
to Ms. Collier by teachers and counselor. The letters they submit
confidentially will be the only recommendation letters accepted.
5. Return completed application, resume and letter to the committee Ms. Collier
in the College & Career Center turn in date. Her office will request a copy of
your transcript including current class rank and test scores from the
Registrar as soon as the completed application is received. Do Not Include
other recommendation letters.
Turn in completed application to Ms. Collier by February 16, 2016 by 3 p.m.
