What is LED lighting?

What is LED lighting?LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are semiconductor devices operating like a common diode, while emitting light in a reduced spectrum, which when the direct JC junction is polarized, the junction point of the 2 semiconductors, and with the action of heat it becomes visible, as a result of the DC current circulating through it.

Nick Holonyak invented LEDs in 1962 while working as a scientist in a General Electric laboratory in Syracuse (New York). It has been possible for many years to see LEDs in many common electrical devices such as radios, televisions, Mobile phones, digital watch displays and in other signalling uses. However, the lack of a wide range of colours and the low light power they offered considerably limited their applications.

Currently, the introduction of new materials has enabled the creation of LEDs that emit light in the entire visible spectrum, offering at the same time an efficiency that exceeds other conventional lighting systems. LEDs continue broadening their range of lighting applications.

11 reasons to change to LED lighting immediately

1 In the last 8 years, domestic electricity bills have increased by about 94.77% and it is necessary to do something to reduce this growing expense.

2 Significant energy savings (consuming up to 85% less than traditional lighting technologies). For instance, in the case of a dichroic Led Bulb, you will save around 200€ in the course of its life.

3 They work for much longer: Up to 30,000 hours of use (more than 10 years, if used for about 8 hours a day), with the minimum of maintenance.

For all these reasons, the only question left is: How can I choose my new LEDs and how do I install them? Well, it’s very easy:

ADVICE FOR INSTALLATION In the case of halogen Bulb installations, check the voltage and type of fitting, selecting LEDs of the same characteristics. If your halogen Bulb is 12 V, you will need an MR16 Bulb, which is an LED with a transformer.

If you wish to replace a fluorescent tube with an LED tube, just remove the choke and replace the tube, it’s that easy.

What about COLOUR?

NOTE THE BULB BEAM ANGLE

There are three types of light: Warm white, pure white and cold white or daylight.

This is determined by the degrees Kelvin of the LED Bulb. Each has a practical application: Cold white (6500K) for places that require powerful lighting, such as lumber rooms, garages, gardens, facades, storage areas... while warm white (2700K) offers an pleasant atmosphere in rooms, halls and places requiring ambient light. Pure white (4.000K), for offices and workplaces, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.

This data indicates the space the Bulb will be able to illuminate. Although LEDs originally produced little light, today we can find LEDs with a wide angle beam that can even illuminate a whole room.

Lights with a beam angle of 60º or less will offer more focused light, perfect to illuminate specific areas: A cupboard, a display cabinet, a painting … However, for a room you will need a Bulb with a beam of 120 degrees. Although it will probably be necessary to use more than one Bulb if the room is larger than normal.

LEDs offer a hard white light! FALSELED lighting offers several different colour temperatures with different tones. Warmer light is obtained with less Kelvin (2700K for example).

Orders Orders must always be made in writing, via e-mail ([email protected]) or via fax (+34.93.473.03.18).

Delivery timesFrom China, the manufacturing time frame will be approximately 30 days.From Barcelona, the period of preparation of the order will be 24-48 hours from the time the order is madesubject to availability of stock.

While ILUMAX attempts to ensure that all its products are in stock with the purpose of providing the best service possible to its customers, in the event that the requested material is not in stock, the customer will be informed of the approximate delivery date on a personalised basis.

Prices• This price comes into effect on 16 November 2015, replacing all previous prices

• Our Prices in Euros are valid up to a minimum change of €1 = $1.05.

Payment methodBank transfer: 50% upon confirmation of the order + 50% before shipment.

GuaranteeILUMAX guarantees the quality of its products for a period ranging of 2 years, depending on the product, according to the terms and conditions that have been legally established in the product price-catalogue to the time of purchase and subject to compliance from the date stated on the delivery document. The following are NOT included in the guarantee:

• Any material received that has any damage caused by negligence, knocks, improper handling or use, higher voltage to the one recommended or problems arising from improper installation.

• All material exposed to accidents, natural disasters or any other cause beyond ILUMAX’s control.

• Installation of the replaced product.

• Generally anything not reflected in this paragraph.

Claims and Incidents• Any claim relating to the quantity of the goods received must be made within a maximum period of 7 days from receipt of the

same, except for any transport-related problem that is noticed, which must be reported within 24 hours from receipt of the same.

• Any quality-related claim or incident must be reported by e-mail to [email protected]. This application will be managed by the Incidents Department who will open a report, accepting or rejecting the return of the same.

• Any entry of defective material will be analysed by our technical department, determining the justification of the use of the guarantee. After a detailed analysis and verification of such material, ILUMAX may opt for the repair, replacement or refund of the product

• The goods delivered shall be considered the property of ILUMAX AHORRO ENERGÉTICO S.L. until full payment of the goods is received.
