knowledge of helping explored Cree perspectives on helping in relation to social work. Part of this research program will further investigate the Cree model of helping I have developed by bringing the model to Cree Elders and social workers for further development and expansion. The goal of this project is to confirm the model's applicability to a wide audience of Cree peoples and strengthen the framework of the model in manner that is applicable to other peoples.

May 2012- “International Conference of Indigenous Voices in Social Work.” As the Present Chair of this project I will be coordinating the set up, administration, and delivery

of an international conference that will occur in August of 2013. This project is also in fulfilment of my role as CRC in Indigenous Knowledges and Social Work.

July 2012- “Development of The Indigenous Knowledges and Social Work Research Present Centre.” This project involves overseeing the development of video-conferencing

structures at the Faculty of Social Work’s Inner City Campus at 485 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg, with satellites at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry site and Northern Program location in Thompson, Manitoba. Principle applicant. This Centre will be establish to support the projects of the CRC and related research activities at each location.

January 2011- "Elders and Their Participation in Higher Education." This project is about Present identifying Elder’s perception on how Elders could participate in institutes of

higher learning. January 2011- "Establishing a Research Agenda on the Social Aspects of Indigenous Aging: Present Northern Manitoba Pilot" and, "Developing a research agenda on the social aspects

of Aging" are sister projects that involves individual interviews and sharing circles with Elders to identifying what they believe should be researched in regards to older Indigenous peoples.

October 2010- “National Environmental for Aboriginal Health Research-Manitoba--NEAHR.” Present In this project I have fulfilled a administrative role in facilitating several aspects of

the project, including the selection process for the distribution undergraduate and graduate fellowships and research support, attending as the regional partner for national meetings, and make presentations on the project. Future work includes these activities and supporting the writing of the forthcoming application that would see the regional project continue.

Completed Research November 2011- $244,915.00 from Health Canada for the project, "Expanding and Extending March 2012 'The BC Model': Exploring the Relations between Cultural Continuity and Suicide

and Other Risk Behaviours within Manitoba First Nations." In this project we developed research partnerships with five First Nations communities representing the 5 linguistic groups in the Province. We have initiated the development of indicators of cultural continuity. We have applied for continued funding to complete the project where the development of the indicators will be completed and then related them to the social conditions of the 63 First Nations communities in Manitoba who wish to participate.

March 2010- “Moving Towards Cultural Based Engagement with our Elders and Healers in May 2010 Research: A Review of Knowledge Translation, Community Based Participatory

Research, Indigenous Knowledge Frameworks, and an Indigenous Research Paradigm.” This project consisted of a literature review focused on Indigenous practices and knowledge in relation to research.

June 2010 “Elders’ Review of the Proposal for an M.S.W. based in Indigenous Knowledge.”

In this project we presented the proposal for the M.S.W. based in Indigenous Knowledge on two occasions and sought the Elders’ feedback of the proposed program.

March 2009- “An Evaluation of Portage Friendship Centre’s Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative October 2009 Project.” The review of the second stage of this project consisted of a review of the

Friendship’s Diabetes project on whether it has meet its targets and its contribution to the surrounding Aboriginal community.

March 2008- “An evaluation of Portage Friendship Centre’s Aboriginal Diabetes July 2008 Initiative Project.” The review of the first stage of this project consisted of a review

of the Friendship’s Diabetes project on whether it has meet its targets and its contribution to the surrounding Aboriginal community.

October 2008- “A Review of the perceptions of the Bachelor of Social Work curriculum in November 2011 preparing graduates to work in the field serving Aboriginal populations.” This

projected consisted of interviews with B.S.W. graduates of 2008, employers of B.S.W. graduates of 2008, and instructors who have taught students who graduated in 2008. The interviews look at how well the graduates were prepared to work with Aboriginal service recipients in a variety of fields.

January 2008- A Proposal for a Manitoba First Nations Health Commission. Completed on July 2008 behalf of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, this project consisted of a literature

review of mental health services for First Nations peoples and a proposal for the development of a First Nations Health Commission.

August 2004- “Health Services Transfer Agreement, Year Five Evaluation of Fisher River October 2004 Cree Nation’s Health Centre Programs and Services.” This project consisted of

reviewing the various programs offered through Fisher River Cree Nation’s health centre to see whether they were meeting their service agreement with Health Canada and the effectiveness of their work in each department.
