"If you are going to spend money on development, then make it exquisite and make it sing" -Emanuel Carter
01Comprehensive planTwo summers ago we were presented with a potential project that involved incorporating a contemporary style landscape to go along with the linear ranch style home. With clean lines and long axises this design and installation will sit timelessly in the old farm field context.
02On Top of The Mount.Typically most of the projects we undertake are not on top of mountains, this project however was not the norm. The location of the pool posed many design challenges from how do we get material to the location and the engineering of a floating pool.
03Backyard WaterparkCustom waterfalls and water slide this backyard has it all. While Dad is on the built in grill and smoker, Mom and the kids are in the over 800 sf gunite pool and spillover spa. With a natural quartzite patio stone and indian hill boulders this backyard waterpark is all the rave.

04Custom Form PoolSecond home owners from the city desired a pool but given their yard restrictions the only 'inground' pool was going to be elevated on one side due to an easement. However, the raised pool beam wall allowed for the removal of the rear fence line allowing for unobstructed views to the woodline. Initial d modelling allowed for the homeowner to visualize the 'above' ground pool look and see it more as an intentional design consideration rather than a deterent.

05Backyard OasisYou could call this the ultimate backyard experience, / sized hockey rink, 800 Sf cabana, and a 00 Sf duel waterfall pool. Back in 0 we began designing this ultimate backyard for a client in Westchester. After successfully completing a series of designs and construction documents. We were brought in to install the pool, plantings, waterfalls, and to oversee the completion of the project as a project manager of the landscape plan.
Fireplace detail and cabana elevation. There were a handful of construction documents necessary to gain approval from the town for the project.
06On Top of The Mount.Typically most of the projects we undertake are not on top of mountains, this project however was not the norm. The location of the pool posed many design challenges from how do we get material to the location and the engineering of a floating pool.
An Ipe deck to compliment the wood work inside the house accompanied by schist coping that speaks to the regional geology. These materials are specifc to the clients home specficially and geographically.
07Free Form Pool with 2' Water FeatureSecond home owners from the city wanted to experience their forested Putnam County woodland cabin as if they had stumbled upon a natural swimming hole. With existing bedrock set behind the water feature it provides the visual backdrop to a natural swimming hole. The pool patio is highlighted by its 'infinity coping' where the patio extends directly to the waters edge with no clear distinct coping line.
In addition to a two-dimensional planting plan, the development of a plant guide helps clients understand proposed plantings. These guides help clients pick and choose certain plants that please their own personal aesthetics.
08Free Form Pool with Cottage PlantingsAs a landscape designer in the Hudson Valley, we have the task of working with a variety of textures and personalities ranging from the urban to rural and modern to natural. This particular design focused primarily on a free form and organic texture. The 00 sf pool has an 8"-' high water feature, custom sun ledge, varying view sheds, and a cottage planting plan to finish it off. Overall, this pool and landscape provides ample privacy and color throughout the year.
Planter Bed Detail: The site had to control the amount of run-off into the Erie Canal so as a design concept these rain gardens in the front of each apartment that utilized a chain which would control the run-off from the building and transcend it into the planting bed allowing for infiltration.
Planting Plan: The site description was suburban, rural, and rich with forested backdrop. Which called for a cottage garden style planting. The plant palette used for the site was a bright, welcoming, and warming texture. The combination or differing heights and seasonal color changes in the plant selection allows the landscape to flush with color year round.

09Phased Master Plan & ModelSome projects require phasing and some are put on hold. This project for example was developed over the course of the last summer with an installation timeline for 0. However, with the changing economy the project had been put on hold for the time being as they prepare for their th child.

103D Modelling & Rendered PlansAs computer technology continues to advance, we as designers must use the technology at our disposal to engage our audience in an attempt to further our sales. d modelling is a great way to help clients visualize the two-dimensional plan as well as see how their yard could look drastically different ways.
113 Pools & WaterfallThere are times where you do a design and the homeowner elects to bid out the project. In this case, we lost the bid to the design and the client went to another installation company to fulfill the plan.
12Traditional with Clean LinesOne of the most recent designs showcases a 0'x 0' gunite pool with a inset spill over spa. A 00 sf natural stone patio
is surrounded by over 00 sf of natural stone veneer and dry stacked walls. This project sits nestled off the side of the
house working with the rapid grade change and restricting property boundaries.
13Modern & Simplistic Pool LandscapeSometimes the grade change on a property is so severe that the need for the pool beam wall to act as the retaining wall is the simpliest answer. In this case, the grade change from the top of the pool to the bottom of grade allows for the removal of the fence line along the backside of the pool. It also acts as a infinity edge pool as the lake in the background sits perfectly off the back edge of the pool.

14 ARB: Campus Master PlanFaculty, students, and staff at The State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry, have strived to be stewards in the environment and follow sustainable practices. The only way to continue this stewardship is the implementation of numerous green and sustainable programs and ideas. The replication of the rain gardens and other stormwater practices promote awareness and creates educational spaces. Some programs and ideas that will accomplish these goals are an ideal quad, a grove of conifers and deciduous trees, and stormwater practices that allow for a greater sense of "practicing what we teach" which in the end will allow the landscape to be the teaching tool.

Addition of rain gardens and bio-retention basins will keep all stormwater on site and therefore will not contribute any addition water to the municipal sewer systems.

15Pottery Site: AutoCad DocumentsAs a student of landscape architecture it is imperative that we learn and understand AutoCad. During the th year of study AutoCad became a dominant and pertinent component of our designs and design representation. We were in charge of creating construction documents for certain elements and designs were had developed. These are a sampling of construction documents from the Pottery Site Redevelopment Project.
Planter Bed Detail: The site had to control the amount of run-off into the Erie Canal so as a design concept these rain gardens in the front of each apartment that utilized a chain which would control the run-off from the building and transcend it into the planting bed allowing for infiltration.
Runnel Detail: Once again the site had to control the amount of run-off into the Erie Canal so as a design concept these runnel systems that would traverse surface run-off into the central rain garden as well as the gravel bioswales allowing for infiltration.

Planting Plan: The site description was an apartment complex for either the elderly or young adult which was located on the Erie Canal. The plant palette used for the site was a rich, dark, and warming texture and color variety to provide a courtyard feeling as well as a sense of a rich history.

16 Knot GardenIn the summer of 0, we, The English Gardener, were presented with a request to design and install a parterre style Knot Garden. After many iterations, we came up with a finalized design using recycled street bricks, series of low growing shrubs and perennials, and a privet hedge to acheive enclosure and "secretecy".

Outdoor Kitchen and JacuzziA few years back, the client requested a pool, patio, firepit, and planting plan. This past summer the client wanted to add to the space through the addition of an outdoor kitchen, herb garden, pergola and jacuzzi. The space had to be seamless and feel as if it was apart of the orginial design.

18 Front Walk and Foundation PlantingLast summer, we were presented with a redesign of an exisiting front walk to make the front entrance of the home more inviting and purposeful. Along with the redesigned walkway the foundation planting was updated with more perennials and seasonal color against monochromatic white house.
Pool Garden and Foundation RedesignCurrently, under construction is a pool garden and foundation planting redesign. The pool garden features Catalpa trees, specimen Japanese Maples, succulent rock garden, and a garden path behind the cascading pool waterfall. The foundation planting is of a very formal design juxaposing the pool garden and complementing the architecture of the house.
