    Radio communicationbetween machinesMC-NET

MC-NET - communicationbetween machines throughradio. This gives great benefits if:

    • Mobile machines make cablelaying difficult.

    • Cable laying is expensive.• Cable is complex, and the

    machines are often moved.

The MC-NET systems can be dividedinto two groups:

MC-NET nodes with parallel I/OMake it possible to exchange analogand digital signals between two ormore nodes via radio.

MC-NET nodes with serial I/OMake it possible to exchange dataserially between two or more nodesvia radio.

MC-NET with parallel I/OThis system consists of two or moreMC-NET nodes. All the nodes haveduplex radio communication with eachother. The system is configured toachieve that an input signal at one ofthe nodes is available as an outputsignal at one or more of the othernodes.

Standard housing of MC-Net is IP 65.The units display shows operational status.

Technical data for input and outputDigital input: A separate relayadjusted to the signal voltage isinstalled. The default delivery is 5, 12,24, 48VDC, 24, 110, 220, 380VAC.Maximum 64 inputs per node.

Digital output: A relay output withchange-over contact. 10A, 30VDC /250VAC, resistive. Duplicatedcontrolled contact (safety relay) can bedelivered.Maximum 64 outputs per node.

    Analog input: 256 steps. Galvanicseparated input signal of ± 100mV,± 200mV, ± 500mV, ± 1V, ± 2V, ± 5V,± 10V, ± 20V, 0-100mV, 0-200mV,0-500mV, 0-1V, 0-2V, 0-5V, 0-10V,0-20V, 1-5V, 0-20mA or 4-20mA.Maximum 13 inputs per node.

Analog output: 256 steps. Galvanicseparated output signal of ± 5V, ± 10V,0-5V, 0-10V, 1-5V, 0-20mA or 4-20mA.In addition signals adjusted to directlyrunning hydraulic valves can bedelivered. Maximum 16 outputs per node.

MC-NET with serial I/OThis system consists of two or moreMC-NET nodes. All the nodes haveduplex radio communication with eachother. The system is configured toachieve that data, which is receivedserially at one node, can be readserially at one or more of the othernodes.MC-NET can be delivered withvarious communication protocols.Consequently it can be connected tomost available equipment. It is also possible to mix serial andparallel I/O in the same system. Inthat way MC-NET can be used as adistributed I/O system with radiocommunication between the units.Further more it is possible to mix MC-NET nodes with various protocols inthe same network.A default system can be deliveredwith a maximum of 5 nodes. If morethan 5 nodes or special dataprocessing in the nodes is required, please contact Cavotec.

    Radio remote controlswith serial communicationMC-LINK

MC-LINK is a product in theMC-3000 family that makes itsimple to connect radiocontrols to PLC units andother equipment that cancommunicate serially.

MC-LINK uses duplex communicationwith the radio remote controls. EachMC-LINK can communicatesimultaneously with maximum fourradio remote controls. In a distributed I/O network the radioremote controls are seen as ordinaryI/O units. This means that remotecontrol switches are read as digitalinputs, while analog joysticks are readas analog inputs.Radio remote control LEDs anddisplay are controlled in the same wayby configuring the I/O unit outputs. All the units are delivered completely

with documentation, configurationfiles and other necessary equipment. In addition Profibus-DP can bedelivered as DP-master. This meansthat the radio control can controlfrequency converters, I/O units andother Profibus-DP slaves directly viaProfibus-DP.
