Microbial Catalasefor Personal Healthcare and Industrial Applications
Catalase from Corynebacterium glutamicum: A Recombinant Microbial Enzyme for High-Level Applications
Choose Roche Catalase from Corynebacterium glutamicum for processes demanding high performance and safety. Specifically developed for use in contact lens cleaning systems, this qualified enzyme has seen more than 20 years of successful use.
GMP facility for the decomposition of biomass
Superior performance compared to bovine-derived enzyme: Save costs by reducing enzyme input (see Figures 1 and 2).
Well-established large-scale production process: Bulk quantities in giga unit dimensions are available.
No risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE): No animal-derived components are used in the production process.
Safe host organism for production: The production strain is a nonpathogenic, WHO Group I organism, widely used in the food industry.
Two formulations Available as a lyophilizate and as a glycerol/ ethanol solution.
Figure 2: Reduction potential. Tests show that only 150 IU of Roche Catalase from Corynebacterium remove 3% hydrogen peroxide in 10 minutes. By comparison, this is half the required amount of bovine-sourced catalase.

Figure 1: Removal efficiency of H2O2. Catalase from Corynebacterium glutamicum is very stable in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Only small amounts of enzyme are required for eliminating H2O2. Using equal amounts of enzyme activity (300 IU), a 3% solution of H2O2 is removed significantly faster by Catalase from Corynebacterium than by Catalase from bovine liver.
