CHAPTHER 1


LGE Confidential1.1 Preparation for External ISP

1. Use VCTI JIG outside a SET to connect with an Internal Memory of VCTI IC for ISP

- Connect VCTI JIG, PC and SET (Refer to pictures) ⓐConnect VCTI JIG with Printer Port of PC directly ⓑConnect USB Cable between VCTI JIG and USB Port of PC

(Supply Power to VCTI JIG using USB Cable) ⓒUsing DsubToDVI Cable, connect VCTI JIG with a SET ⓓBe sure to leave PUSH SWITCH of VCTI JIG pressed before plugging

into POWERCORD ⓔSupply Power to POWERCORD plugged into a SET ⓕCheck if LED is red in a SET (STAND-BY status) ⓖPress PUSH SWITCH of VCTI JIG to be released

2. Execute ISP inside FLASH MEMORY of VCTI IC to connect directly to CHASSIS

- Connect VCTI JIG, PC and SET (refer to the above picture)

ⓐConnect VCTI JIG with Printer Port of PC directly ⓑConnect USB Cable to VCTI JIG, USB Port of PC

(Supply Power to VCTI JIG using USB Cable) ⓒUsing 15P D-SUB Cable, connect VCTI JIG with a SET ⓓBe sure to leave PUSH SWITCH of VCTI JIG pressed before plugging into POWERCORD ⓔSupply Power to POWERCORD plugged into a SET ⓕCheck if LED is red in a SET (STAND-BY status)ⓖPress PUSH SWITCH of VCTI JIG to be released

<How to INSTALL>

1.Install VISUAL I2C Program ▶ Setup_Visual_I2C_v3-1-7c.exe

2.Install LPT DRIVER ▶ if(OS==WIN98)

INSTALL(Setup_LptDrv_v0104_9x.exe) ;if(OS==WIN2000)

INSTALL(Setup_LptDrv_v0104_NT.EXE) ;if(OS==WIN XP)

INSTALL(Setup_LptDrv_v0202_XP_2000.EXE) ;

3.Double click ‘vct49xyi_start.vi2c’ in the folder ‘VCTiVIIC’

VCTi : Installation

Check Point.

1.If LPT Driver is set up, You can see LPT1 or LPT2….and LPT driver must be ECP mode in CMOS of the PC

Click File->Preferences->LPT Preferences.

2.If upload speed is too fast, you can increase delay time. Maybe ‘7’ is proper at WindowsXP and ‘1’ at Windows2000.* Normal upload time is minimum 1minute.

3.If the upgrade failures although this process, I think there are some problems in JIG. You have to change JIG another things.

Click a small square slowlyuntil is displayed. “16” ison the screen. (If “16” is not displayed, VctiIs not as Slave. Control SCL to be LOW)

Click [Erase Flash] twiceevery 1 second.

Click [Load Bin Flash].You can see the progress

status of upload in a pop-up window.

Pop-up window displaysthe progress. A window isclosed if upload is completed.

Pre-Condition 1. Press JIG switch 2. Plug POWER CORD to a

SET 3. Release JIG switch

If SCL is low when POWER is ON, VCTi is SLAVE. You can control

from PC.

1. Use SCALER JIG outside a SET to execute ISP in SCALER FLASH Memory

- Connect with SCALER JIG, PC and a SET (refer to the above picture)

ⓐConnect SCALER JIG with Serial Port of PC directly (ex. COM1) ⓑUse USB Cable to supply power to SCALER JIG.

(USB Cable is used for supplying power to IC in JIG) ⓒUse DsubToDVI Cable to connect JIG with a SET.

- SCALER JIG is operated if a SET is ACTIVE. (with the screen on, power LED is green) (it is not operated if STAND-BY status, power LED is red)

3. Using SCLER JIG in Chassis, execute ISP in SCALER FLASH Memory

- The connection between SCALER JIG, PC and Chassis is like the above. ⓐ Connect SCALER JIG with Serial Port of PC (ex. COM1) directly. ⓑ Supply power to SCALER JIG with USB Cable.

(USB Cable is used to supply power to IC in JIG) ⓒ Use 4P Cable to connect JIG with Chassis.

-SCALER JIG is operated if a SET is ACTIVE (the screen is on, power of LED is green). (it is not operated if STAND-BY status, power of LED is red)

*Position of 4 Pin wafer is different from each Chassis.

2. Check before executing SCALER ISP outside a SET

ⓐClick “INSTART” in SERVICE ADJUST REMOCON.(If you don’t have SVC Remocon, Press simultaneously the ‘MENU’ keys both on the remote control and the local key, for about 10seconds)

ⓑModels have OSD like the above pictures. ⓒPress Up and Down Key on the remote controller to move the cursor to ‘Download’(SCALER upload). ⓓPress Right Key on the remote controller. ⓔSCALER ISP becomes available.

(* To execute an Internal ISP on CHASSIS, this is unnecessary)

Emergency: How to handle if Test is successful but upload is failed ;

1. Remove Power cord

2. Remove FLASH ROM

3. Re-connect Power cord with a Set

4. Switch on a Set

5. Insert FLASH ROM into a Slot

6. Execute Batch file again to start upload
