This user guide has been created using an iOS device running iOS version 13.4.1 with Outlook app version 4.36.1

Depending on the software on your hardware your experience may differ from what is documented in this user guide.

How to access your school e-mails.

With the Outlook app for iOS installed on your iPhone or iPad and your e-mail set up on it tap the Outlook icon.

If you haven’t set your e-mail up already please consult the school website for more information.

If you already use the Microsoft Outlook App on your device for your personal e-mail click on the house icon next to word Inbox.

If you only use Outlook for your school e-mail please go to the next page.

Select your school e-mail account by tapping on the circles, each circle represents an e-mail account set up in your Outlook app.

You can tell which your school account is at the top when you click the initials it will say Office 365.

How to access your school e-mails.

You will now be presented with your school e-mail account inbox.

From here you can read and reply to any messages that your teachers send to you.

You can also write an e-mail and send it to your teacher.

You could send your work to your teacher as an e-mail attachment.

You can also accept lesson meeting requests that will be sent by your Teachers for you to attend lessons in Microsoft Teams.

And you can even join your class Teams lesson by getting a reminder delivered to your iOS device.

So you don’t have to worry, you can always stay in touch.

How to send your Teacher an e-mail.

From your inbox tap the following icon.

Your screen will then allow you to write your message.

How to send your Teacher an e-mail.Start your e-mail message by tying in your teachers surname into the field To: Then tap Show another

contact.

Your teachers name will then appear, tap on it.

Your teachers name will then be highlighted in blue. You can now continue with writing your e-mail.

How to send your Teacher an e-mail.

Some of your teachers might have the same surname.

In this example two teachers share the surname Robinson.

You might not get the teacher you want. Tap on Show another contact.

Any other teachers with the same surname will appear below. You can then select the teacher you want.

How to send your Teacher an e-mail.

Tap to give your e-mail a subject title.

Carry on with writing your message. Tap to put any questions to your teacher here.

When you’re ready to send your e-mail tap here. Your e-mail will then be sent to your teacher.

If you change your mind tap here to discard writing your e-mail message.

How to send an e-mail attachment to your Teacher.

You can send your work directly to your teacher by using your e-mail.

Create your e-mail message as discussed previously but before tapping the send button tap on the icon below your message that has a paper clip.

How to send an e-mail attachment to your Teacher.

Once you have tapped on the paper clip icon your screen will change.

A pop up will appear at the bottom of your e-mail message with several options.

Make your selection.

If you are going to chose a photo that you’ve taken on your device (for example a picture for an art project) then choose the option Chose Photo from Library.

If you have a file on your device (such as a word document then select the option Attach File).

Then choose the pictures from your devices camera roll.

If you select the option Attach file you will be asked where your file is.

The three most popular cloud storage for iOS devices are:iCloudOneDrive (your school e-mail account comes with free storage)Dropbox.

In our example we are going to discuss iCloud and OneDrive.

Once you’ve tapped the option Attach file your screen will change.

Your screen will change to something that looks like this.

Find the following option (You might have to swipe all the way down to the bottom of the screen):

Select this option.

How to send an e-mail attachment to your Teacher.

Your screen will change to something that looks like this.

By default Outlook for iOS will look at your iCloud storage first. If you’ve saved your work on iCloud read on. We will discuss other options soon.

Navigate to your work, tap on any folders if necessary.

Tip: If you’ve only just saved it tap here to get to it quicker!

Your file will then be added to your e-mail as an attachment.

If you need to send more than one file you will have to repeat the steps again for each file you need to add.

If you have been using OneDrive with your iOS device then we’re going to show you how to add your files.

Did you know that every single student in school has included with their e-mail OneDrive storage?

OneDrive allows you to save your work to the cloud and then download it at school.

And its all free!

By default Outlook for iOS will look at your iCloud storage first. We want our OneDrive so click Browse.

The first time you attach a file and tap the Browse option you might not see OneDrive in the list of available Locations.

You might see a red circle with a number in it next to More Locations. Tap on it.

Tap the slider button next to OneDrive.

You will now be able to select OneDrive as a location.

Tap on OneDrive.

Your screen will change to display your OneDrive storage.

Replying to an e-mail.

You may receive an e-mail from your teacher or a response to an e-mail that you have sent.

If you have enabled notifications on your device for Outlook you should receive an alert appear on your device when a e-mail arrives in your inbox.

Tap the notification. The Outlook app will then open the e-mail.

You can now read the e-mail in full.

Replying to an e-mail.

If you have not turned on Notifications for your Outlook app or didn’t choose the option to turn it on you can check your e-mails by making a note of the number next to the app. This number represents the number of unread messages in your inbox.

This isn’t the best method of keeping an eye out for e-mails. You might not notice a really important e-mail from your teacher or a reminder to join a Teams class lesson.

This can be changed really quickly.

On your iOS device tap Settings.

Tap on it.

Replying to an e-mail.

Scroll down the list of Settings options until you see Notifications.

Scroll down the list until you see Outlook.

Tap on it.

Replying to an e-mail.

Your screen will change and you will be displayed with the following option.

Tap the slider button next to Allow Notifications.

Your screen will change again.

Make sure every slider button is set to green (on) and that all alerts have a blue tick below them.

Tap Notifications to exit this screen and then exit the Settings menu. Your iOS device will now alert you whenever you receive an e-mail or an invitation / reminder for a lesson from Outlook.

Replying to an e-mail.

You may receive an e-mail from your teacher or a response to an e-mail that you have sent.

At the top of the e-mail to the right of where the persons name is who sent you an e-mail will be the time that the e-mail was sent.

Tap on the three dots.

A menu with options will then appear.

Tap Reply. You will then be able to write your reply to this e-mail. You could even attach files as discussed earlier in this document. When you have finished tap the send button. Your reply will then be sent.
