I started my Tupperware business 16 years ago, shortly after giving birth to my first child. I had taken maternity leave from my job, but when it was time to go back to work, I couldn’t do it. I needed to work, but more than anything, I needed to be with my baby. Maybe that’s why, when I look back, I can’t separate

my being a mom from my business.

When I began holding my first parties as a Consultant, I had to take my baby with me. And then I continued to party with my second and third daughters right by my side. It’s such a wonderful thing to remember—how quiet they were as soon as I started my demonstrations. It seemed like they knew their mom needed

to be there, doing that for our family.

That’s one of the things I’ll always be most grateful for—the opportunity to develop

a successful career while being a full-

time mother.

It’s hard to believe that just four years before I started with Tupperware, at eighteen years old and a newlywed, I had come from Mexico where people said in the U.S. you needed a broom to sweep dollars from the streets. The reality check was really hard. My husband worked in construction, and I worked in a kitchen and cleaning offices, so we didn’t spend a lot of time together—and all of it for $350, bi-weekly.

In the year 2005, I helped my husband set up a maintenance business. At first, it barely produced enough money to keep itself afloat. Happily, my Tupperware

business was enough to take care of

the family expenses, so we were able to wait until that business paid off and today we can both say we’re two successful entrepreneurs…thanks to Tupperware!
