“THE DORCAS LEGACY” The Dorcas Initiative is an essential tool the WMS uses to raise funds to implement its work throughout the Second District and connection, including, supporting overseas missions, (b) supporting the AME Shelter in Raleigh, NC, and (c) assisting pastors and congregations in smaller churches. Also, The funds raised empowers the WMS to award educational scholarships to youth, inclusive of those who need assistance; but might be overlooked in normal scholarship searches. Additionally, the Missionaries are able to meet their district and connectional obligations, not only for the WMS but the YPD; from Funds raised at the Dorcas Extravaganza which is held annually during the Midwinter Meeting.
