PUPPYEXTRAVAGANZA

Back by popular demand & sponsored in part by the CANINE CAVIAR, theAlaska Kennel Club, Inc. will again hold the Puppy Extravaganza on Saturday,June 23, 2018, in conjunction with our regular all breed show competition.

There is no additional or special entry fee required for this event. Classes for puppies will be6-9 & 9-12 months. Any dog or bitch over the age of 12 months is not considered a puppy.

PUPPY DOGS & PUPPY BITCHES MUST BE ENTERED & EXHIBITED IN A REGULAR PUPPYCLASS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE IN THE PUPPY EXTRAVAGANZA. A regular puppy classentry will automatically allow & include the puppy in the puppy extravaganza.

The Puppy Extravaganza will culminate in a “Best Puppy in Show” award. This AKCapproved special event allows the puppy class winners, in each breed, to be judgedimmediately following Best of Breed to determine Best Puppy. If the puppy wins Best ofBreed or Best of Winners in the Regular competition, then it is automatically Best Puppy.

The Best Puppy from each breed will then compete in their respective PuppyGroups for First through Fourth placements. The seven winners of the Puppy Groupswill then compete for Best Puppy in Show. All normal judging procedures apply.Judges are subject to change. Information on the order of judging the Puppy Groups& Best Puppy in Show will be included in the Program of Judging.

NOVICE SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who atthe time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at alicensed or member show.

OPEN JUNIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at thetime entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competi-tion present in the Novice Class.

OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 12 and under 15 years of age on the day of the showwho at the time entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, withcompetition present in the Novice Class.

OPEN SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at thetime entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competi-tion present in the Novice Class.

MASTER CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 9 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show and who have wonten (10) Best Junior Handler awards with competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibilitydates for the AKC National Championship. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the MasterClass and must change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame forthat year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry.

GENERAL INFORMATION & SHOW RULESTHE WELFARE OF AN EXHIBITOR’S CHILD IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXHIBITOR, WHO MUST EXER-CISE CONTROL & RESTRAINT OVER THE CHILD WHILE THE CHILD IS ON THE SHOW PREMISES. FAILURETO DO SO WILL RESULT IN ACTION BY THE SHOW COMMITTEES.EXHIBITORS MUST BE GOVERNED BY ANY RULES OR REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL AUTHORITIES ORBUILDING AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS. Exhibiting & parking at this show is a privilege extended bythe Alaska Kennel Club, Inc. & Service High School. EXHIBITOR INFORMATION FOR SERVICE HIGH SCHOOL1 An Exercise area will be available. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up the area after their dog has

used it.2 FOOD CONCESSION will be available.3 A fee of $5.00 will be charged for day parking.4 Limited Reserved RV & Tent Camping parking & Reserved Grooming tent areas will be available on the

grounds.5 There will be no pounding of stakes, nails or any other object into the asphalt. Anyone found doing

so will be subject to action taken by the show committee.6 No Alcoholic Beverages or Non-Prescription Drug use allowed on ASD property.SPACE FOR UNENTERED DOGS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED AT THESE SHOWS.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYThe management will exercise every precaution for the safety of the dogs exhibited, & it is understood thatneither the clubs nor the management nor the landlord will be responsible for the loss of, damage to or anydamage caused by any dog from any cause.EXHIBITORS & HANDLERS are required to keep their dogs under control at all times, restrained & kept awayfrom ALL shrubbery, flowers & lawns except in designated areas.THE CLUBS may decline any entries for cause & may refuse to receive or may remove any dog from the showpremises on account of disease, viciousness or other cause, & no one shall have any claim or recourse againstthe Clubs or any officials thereof for such action.ONLY DOGS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE to be shown under The American Kennel Club rules shall be allowed withinthe show precincts.Except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows, NO DOGS wrongly enteredin a class may be transferred to another class. OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ERRORS in any forms, regard-less of who may make such errors.Exhibitors must be governed by any rules or regulations of civil authorities or building & parking restrictions.Vehicles parked contrary to regulations will be subject to towing at owner’s expense.

TROPHIESOther than Best in Show & Groups, trophies will NOT be presented in the ring. Exhibitors will receive cards inthe ring - these cards will be exchanged for the trophy at a central location. It is the responsibility of theexhibitor to claim any & all trophies prior to the conclusion of Group Judging. No trophy will be mailed. TheClubs are not responsible for lost or broken trophies after receipt. The Clubs reserve the right to substitute atrophy with one of equal or greater value if conditions make it necessary. All trophies not used or claimed atthe shows become the property of the Clubs, to be used at future shows in the donor’s name.A Judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretary priorto judging. The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, or ramp).Ramps can be used in emergency situation to judge any breed. In an emergency situation an exhibitorhas the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.

The following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp: Lagotto Romagnolo, American WaterSpaniels, Clumber Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Cirnecodell’Etna, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers,Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Entlebucher Mountain Dogs, Finnish Lapphunds,Norwegian Buhunds, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs and Norrbottenspets (Misc).

The following breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels andWhippets.

The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition: SussexSpaniels, Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows.

NEW EXHIBITOR BRIEFING on Saturday. Check Judging Program for time & location.A Recording Fee of 50 cents for each dog and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be required for each recordablesingle entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11,Section 2). An AKC Recording Fee of $3.50 1st Entry & $3.00 additional entry of same dog will be required for each entryin Rally. (American Kennel Club Rally Regulation, Chapter 1, Section 3) These Fees are paid to the American Kennel Club. CANADIAN EXHIBITORS MUST SUBMIT ENTRIES WITH CHECKS DRAWN ON U.S. ACCOUNTS OR WITH INTERNA-TIONAL MONEY ORDERS IN U.S. FUNDS.There will be no refund for duplicate entries.Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging.Dogs allowed in rings during judging only.Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superintendents will be responsible or obligated to furnishany service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holdingup a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.The Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.All trophies must be claimed the day of the show - None will be mailed.All checks issued as prizes are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Lost, stolen and/or misplaced checks will not bereplaced. Checks are valid for 90 days. The Superintendent is not able to cash checks.RETURNED CHECKS/DECLINED CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS do not constitute a valid entry fee. Fees must be paid in guar-anteed funds. Checks will not be accepted. The Superintendent will add a fee for completing the transaction and/orreprocessing the entries. GROOMING SPACE RESERVATION FORMINFORMATION & RULES

• Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.• All grooming setups require a reservation. This is due to Anchorage Fire Department regula-tions that the Alaska Kennel Club, Inc. & show participants must abide by.

• Reserved 10’ x 10’ grooming spaces are $25.00 per space for the entire weekend.• Electricity & shelters are not available at this show site so you will need to make your ownarrangements for the use of a generator & easy-up shelter.

• Exhibitors will be allowed to set up their area(s) no earlier than Friday at 3:00 pm.• Each reserved space will include one (1) day parking pass good for both days of the show &must park in the Day Parking Area Only.

• There are a limited number of spaces that can use a generator so please specify on the formbelow if you will be using a generator.

• You must reserve enough space to hold everything that you bring to your grooming area.• Those wishing to have spaces together must send in their reservations together.• Additional day parking passes can be purchased at the entrances to the school parking lots onshow dates for $5.00 per day, per vehicle & must park in the Day Parking Areas Only.

• Vehicles will not be allowed on the grass.• Exhibitors are responsible for damages & clean-up of their reserved spaces.• If fault for damage to the show grounds by an exhibitor or their guest(s) can be determined,including the grass areas damaged by digging dogs, the exhibitor will ultimately be held liablefor the payment of repairs & may also be subject to a misconduct hearing that could result inthe loss of Alaska Kennel Club, Inc. & AKC privileges if restitution is not made.

OVERNIGHT RV & TENT CAMPING RESERVATIONINFORMATION & RULES

All parking is a privilege extended by the Alaska Kennel Club, Inc. & the Anchorage SchoolDistrict. The Club reserves the right to withhold or withdraw this privilege from any personwho does not observe the rules and/or instructions of the parking personnel on duty.Abusive language will not be tolerated & anyone unable to abide by the rules will beescorted off the premises, without recourse or refund of fees & subject to a ShowCommittee Hearing and possible loss of AKC privileges.• Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis and are due by the closing dateof the show.

• Those wishing to have spaces together must send in their reservations in the sameenvelope.

• All overnight setups require a reservation. This is due to Anchorage Fire Department regulations that the Alaska Kennel Club, Inc. & show participants must abide by.

• Reserved 18’ x 40’ overnight RV spaces are $30.00 per space for the entire weekend.• Reserved 20’ x20’ overnight tent/camping spaces are $30.00 per space for the entireweekend.

• Pop-up trailers are considered RVs & must be in the paved parking area.• It is your responsibility to reserve enough space to hold all vehicles, tents & equipmentthat you bring with you to the show site.

• Electricity is not available at this show site, so you will need to make your own arrangements for the use of a generator. All RVs must be self-contained, since there areno hookups available. When using generators, exhaust must be directed away from otherRVs and/or exercise pens.

• Each reserved space will include two (2) overnight vehicle passes, each good for bothdays of the show, parking in the RV Parking Area Only. There must be a pass easily visible on each vehicle, be it an RV, passenger vehicle, cargo trailer etc.

• Additional day parking passes can be purchased at the entrances to the school parkinglots on the show dates for $5.00 per day, per vehicle & must park in the Day ParkingAreas Only.

• Vehicles will not be allowed on the grass.• Exhibitors are responsible for damages & clean up of their reserved spaces. There will beno pounding of stakes, nails or other objects into the asphalt.

• If fault for damage to the show grounds by an exhibitor or their guest(s) is determined,including the grass areas damaged by digging dogs, the exhibitor will ultimately be heldliable for the payment of repairs & may also be subject to a Show Committee that couldresult in the loss of AKC privileges if restitution is not made.

• Fire lanes must be kept clear at all times. Unauthorized or illegally parked vehicleswill be towed without prior warning & at the owner’s expense.

• Generators are not to be run between the hours of 10:00 pm & 7:00 am per MunicipalCode.

• No Alcoholic beverages or non-prescription drug use is allowed on Anchorage SchoolDistrict property.

• Smoking is prohibited on the grass or in any vegetated area of the show site for fire safety concerns.

• RVs and tents will not be allowed to set up earlier than Friday at 1:00 pm.• Evening showers will be available on the site in the school at no additional cost toexhibitors.

• Parking & Camping passes will be emailed. Club not responsible for incorrect emailaddresses.

• No discharge of gray or black water.

INSTRUCTIONS1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you are enter-

ing i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color). Beagles (not exceeding 13 in. over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.). Dachshunds(longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), EnglishToy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard), Collies (rough, smooth),

The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition; Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which,according to their owner’s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The show-ing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completedthe requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to des-ignating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has beenacquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement,regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry formwhether transfer application has been mailed to the A.K.C. (For complete rules refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).

5. Mixed Breed dogs entering classes for Agility, Obedience and Rally trials should mark Breed as AKC Canine Partners Listed Dog “All-AmericanDog/Mixed Breed.” Variety, Breeder, Sire, Dam information shall remain blank for mixed breed entrants.
