VBS Family Night is TONIGHT! TONIGHT | Fellowship Hall | 6 p.m.

Dinner begins serving at 4:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. We will have grilled burgers and hot dogs with slaw, beans, chips, fresh fruit, lemonade, and ice cream. Cost is $3/kid, $5/adult. Worship rally begins at 6 p.m. where you will get the chance to experience a little taste of Vacation Bible School. Parents will have the opportunity to tour their child’s classroom after the worship rally.

Dr. Gustaw Cieslar, president, Poland Baptist Union, Warsaw, Poland, will be guest our tonight an “Update: Baptist Work in Poland” on Wednesday, June 12. The informal session will be held in Room 151 at 5 p.m. Bring a tray and eat with the group or you may just come to visit.

Welcome, Alyssa and Pam!We are so excited to announce that Alyssa Goins (working Monday – Wednesday) and Pam Stockett (working Thursday – Friday) will be our new main receptionists at First Baptist Nashville. Blood Drive Wednesday, June 19 | 3 – 7 p.m. | Room 150

First Baptist Nashville will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, June 19, from 3 – 7 p.m. in Room 150. A great benefit from this blood drive is that any graduating senior in the Nashville area donating blood will be eligible to win scholarships—one for $1,000 and one for $2,000! Eligibility for the scholarships will also further depend upon each blood drive collecting its required quota of units of blood. You are encouraged to help give the gift of life, and possibly financially enrich one of our senior students! Sign up in the Foyer following worship and look for Ruth!

Haiti CollectionWe are taking donations for our mission trips to Haiti in July. Items needed: baby formula (stages 1 & 2), diapers (sizes 2 & 3), triple antibiotic ointment, children’s vitamins, and children’s cold medicine. Donations will be accepted June – July 15.

Designate your contribution with a sticker that indicates Haiti. Donations may be placed in our collection bins. As we are taking up multiple collections, please be sure to designate your donation accordingly.

July 4th Celebration and OutreachMake plans now to bring your family, neighbors, and friends to celebrate the 4th of July at Seventh and Broadway. All ages are invited to be part of outreach teams that will interact with people on the streets in the downtown business district, Riverfront Park and our Patio.

Street teams will give away balloons, glow sticks, ice cold water, lemonade, and Scripture material about finding true freedom in Jesus Christ. Children’s activities on the patio will include face painting, temporary tattoos, hula hoops, more balloons, and snow cones. Materials will be provided for children and adults to write letters or postcards thanking our active military men and women for their service and to “mail” them in a big mailbox on the Patio. Refreshments will be served!

Teams will work in two shifts from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. and from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be available before or after your shift for only $2.50/person.

June CollectionFor the collection bin in June, we are collecting supplies for the Family Mission Trip in Elizabethton , TN, July 11 – 14. We will help clean, build and minister through Hale Community Ministries. Our needs: toilet paper, cleaning supplies, items for personal hygiene such as deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, etc. Place these items in the collection bins located at the Main Entrances.

Craft & CropJoin us July 12 – 13 for our summer Craft & Crop. We’re offering extended hours to give you plenty of time for your projects. Join us Friday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. A class in digital scrapbooking is planned. This is FREE, but you are on your own for meals. Mission Trip to HaitiWe are excited to continue our partnership with our Haitian friends. This summer we are thrilled to take two teams to Haiti in July. Not only will our Senior Foreign Mission Trip again be to Haiti on July 17 – 23, but a second group will be traveling the week before, July 11 – 17. Ministry in Haiti will consist of working with the Children of Hope orphanage and construction projects. This work will serve to continue our relationship building efforts in conjunction with the works of The Joseph School. For more information, visit thejosephschool.org.

BibleSticks UpdateTHANK YOU FOR HELPING US REACH OUR GOAL and SURPASS the goal of $5,000 to match a $5,000 gift, to provide the Bible in audio form on BibleSticks. Our U.S. veterans led the way in this campaign, and the funds will be forwarded for providing over 400 of these “Bibles” to men and women wearing the U.S. colors.

Christ Clothes ClosetYou, your family, or small group may volunteer to serve the poor of our city through the Christ Closet, which is open every first and third Sunday from 12 – 1 p.m.

The Christ Closet is located behind the Fellowship Hall and serves both men and women. It’s the perfect ministry to do as a family or with a few friends, as 3 adults (or 2 adults and a very responsible youth) are all that are needed to run the Christ Closet.

If you have a larger group—a Sunday School class or small group, for example—we always have donations that need sorting, and volunteering together is a great bonding activity, not to mention a tremendous help to this ministry. Younger volunteers can provide ice water and snacks to guests and serve in many ways.

The Jordan-Lake family will gladly give you a 10-minute overview of how to run the Christ Closet at a time convenient to you, even if it’s right after church! The other volunteers assist the guests, and as time permits can also size and hang donated clothing on the racks.
