Iowa Beef Expo Heifer AwardThe Iowa Beef Breeds Council will award $500 to thejunior exhibitor of the highest ranking heifer purchasedfrom each breed sale at the 2018 Iowa Beef Expo andexhibited at the 2018 Iowa State Fair. Only one heiferper breed sale will be awarded. Therefore, high and lowpercentage cattle will be considered for one award.Furthermore, cattle with multiple breed registrationsmay only be awarded by the breed association whichsold those cattle at the 2018 Iowa Beef Expo.

TERMS & CONDITIONS1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder

without reserve.2. BIDDING DISPUTES: The auctioneer in charge will settle,

and his decision on such matters shall be final.3. TERMS: terms of this sale are cash or check, unless prior

arrangements have been made with the management. Noanimals will be permitted to be removed from the premis-es until settlement is made.

4. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk ofthe purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared forafter the sale without cost to the purchaser for a reason-able and sutomary perios of time, but at the purchaser’srisk as to loss or injury, and will be loaded according tothe purchaser’s direction without cost to him.

5. CATALOG CHANGES: Any changes from the informationprinted in this catalog will be announced from the auc-tion block at the time the animal is sold and suchannouncements shall take precedence.

6. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A certificate of registry willbe furnished for each animal sold, except as noted in thiscatalog. The cost of transferring ownership will be paidby the seller.

7. MANAGEMENT: The management acts only as agent forthe seller and does not assume any liability, legal or oth-erwise, for the animals’ health or future usefulness. Alladjustments and guarantees, if any, must be madebetween the purchaser and seller.

8. LIABILITY: All persons who attend the sale do so at theirown risk. Bittersweet West and the management assumesno liability, legal or otherwise, for the safety or behaviorof the animals.

9. GUARANTEES: Cows represented as being “safe in calf”are considered breeders without further guarantee. Allopen females sell as guaranteed breeders. In an event afemale is claimed to be a non-breeder, after having beenbred regularly to a bull known to be a breeder, the mat-ter must be reported in writing. Heifers under twelvemonths must be reported in writing before the heiferreaches eighteen months of age. The seller shall have sixmonths to prove said animal. Any female that is subject-ed to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques shallcause this guarantee to be null and void. At no time shallthe seller be liable for more than the purchase price. Noguarantee is given that heifers will deliver a live calf.Breeding age bulls sell with semen test. Bulls not ofbreeding age will be guaranteed to be breeders if man-aged properly.

10. HEALTH: All cattle in this sale are in excellent conditionand health. Where needed, health certificates will be fur-nished for shipment in the continental US.

Welcome to the Midwest National Salers Sale Feb. 14, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Iowa

State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The sale committee and I have put together a strong

performance driven set of Salers bulls and a fancy set of females for your appraisal.

I’m writing this on New Year’s Day and the temp this morning is minus 15 degrees.

That is tough on me but our herd of Salers is doing just fine. This is typical of the

breed. Adaptability does hold true as just one of the Salers signature traits. Take

advantage and add or improve your herd with Salers genetics from the Midwest

National Sale.

We want to thank Jacobi Farm for donating a heifer for this year’s fundraising proj-

ect. This is an excellent, fun part of the sale. Contact any member of the Iowa Salers
