|AbstractAtrophy of alveolar ridges following tooth extraction is an inevitable consequence that can severely compromise aesthetic and functional rehabilitation. Ridge preservation has become the standard of care and a necessity for the successful contemporary clinician. Timely management of the ridge is critical for the preservation and reconstruction for implant rehabilitation.

This course is a fit for those who want to achieve optimal predictable results for socket and ridge management, with the goal in mind to become more confident in identifying the type defect and decision making in regenerative therapy. About Geistlich

|Dr Ang Chee WanDr Ang Chee Wan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the National University of Singapore in 2003. He received specialist training in periodontology and graduated with a Master of Dental Surgery degree in 2008. In the same year, he obtained his fellowship in periodontology from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (United Kingdom).

Dr Ang is an accredited Specialist in Periodontology registered with the Singapore Dental Council. He also teaches the undergraduate and postgraduate students in the National University of Singapore.

Dr Ang lectures overseas frequently in numerous countries including Switzerland, China, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. He was invited by Asian Academy of Prosthodontics to speak in Shanghai, China and by Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry to speak in Sapporo, Japan. Dr Ang was also invited to teach in postgraduate programs in the University of Washington, USA and the University of California Los Angeles, USA.

Dr Ang is an active member in several professional organizations, including the Society of Periodontology (Singapore), the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

As a periodontist, Dr Ang provides a comprehensive range of periodontal therapy. These include gum treatment, bone and gum grafting procedures, aesthetic gum surgery and a full range of dental implant procedures. He has special interests in implant dentistry, periodontal plastic surgery, minimally invasive surgeries and bone regenerative procedures.

Dr Daylene Leong|Dr. Daylene Leong is an accredited Dental Specialist in Periodontics registered with the Singapore Dental Council. She received her basic dental training at National University of Singapore and specialty training in Periodontology from the University of Michigan, USA. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Leong is currently in full-time private practice and a part-time Clinical Tutor at the National University of Singapore. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer at International Medical University, Malaysia. She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and previously served in the executive committee of the Society of Periodontology (Singapore).

Dr Leong actively presents at dental conferences, study clubs and public talks. She has also published several scientific papers in internationally recognized peer-reviewed scientific journals and has contributed to chapters in a couple of popular dental speciality textbooks. Her many academic awards include being the recipient of the Inaugural Dr Benson Duff Graduate Periodontics Memorial Scholarship Award from the University of Michigan, the National University of Singapore Alumni Bursary Award, and a Dean’s Lister and medalist with the South East Asia Association for Dental Education. She was also a President’s Girl Guide.

Dr Leong’s current clinical work involves providing an extensive range of periodontal and implant therapy to patients with complex periodontal conditions. Dr Leong has a special interest in esthetic and periodontal plastic surgery, dental implants and periodontal regenerative procedures.

Our Speakers

Dr Tan Wah Ching|Dr. Tan currently maintains a private specialist practice in The Dental Studio, Singapore. She also holds the appointments of Visiting Specialist and Adjunct Principal Investigator at the National Dental Centre Singapore, and Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore.

She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and Doctor medicinae dentum from the University of Berne in 2008. She obtained her specialist training in Periodontology from the National University of Singapore, through a conjoint Master of Dental Surgery Programme with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, where she was awarded the IADR Book Prize.

Dr. Tan is an ITI fellow and serves as ITI study club director in Singapore.

She was awarded an ITI research grant in 2009, and is the recipient of the 2015 André Schroeder Research Prize.

She has many publications in peer-reviewed journals and currently serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, Clinical Oral Implants Research and the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. She also lectures on periodontal and implant related topics both locally and internationally.

|Dr Jerry LimJerry completed his undergraduate dental training in National University of Singapore in the year 1995. Following the completion of his internship at the National University Hospital in 1998, he obtained his Fellowship from The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons by examination in the year 2002. In 2010, he was awarded the Fellowship of the International College of Dentists and as Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).

Jerry has a special interest in the field of Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry. He actively studies and attend continuing dental education on these subjects locally and overseas in the United States of America and Europe. He is also trained in Neuromuscular and Aesthetic Dentistry at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and Occlusion Connections. Since 2005, Jerry has followed the developments and understanding of Cranio-Mandibular Disorders and its management, incorporating these occlusal concepts into his patient’s oral rehabilitation.

He is a partner in a group dental practice and is constantly engaging his dental associates in a mentoring scheme as well as hands on training. He is actively involved in the continuing dental education scene in Singapore. Jerry gives back to his alma mater Dental Faculty at National University of Singapore as an adjunct clinical instructor.

Professionally, he is a Past President at the College of General Dental Practitioners Singapore. He is also an active member of the Singapore Dental Association and holds membership locally with the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore and Prosthodontic Society of Singapore. Internationally, Jerry is a member of the International Academy of Medicine and Oral Toxicology (IAOMT) well as the International College of Oral Implantologists. Jerry is a founding Director of Aesthetic and Digital Dentistry Academy (ADDA).

He has been invited to present his knowledge and work on Direct and Indirect Posterior restorations, Aesthetic Rejuvenation, Dental Implant, Neuromuscular treatment as well as Clear Aligner therapy.

Course Synopsis | Following tooth loss, the soft and hard tissues supporting the tooth undergo changes. This usually makes the replacement of these missing teeth with dental implants more complex, with a need for grafts. The survival rate of dental implants were dramatically improved due to the development of intra-osseous implants in the 1970s. This revolutionalised the practice of dentistry, and many

patients started having implants incorporated into their treatment plans to enhance their dentition. In the 1970s to 1980s, most implants were placed in the inter-foraminal areas of the

mandible where bone is usually found in abundance.

Other areas were usually avoided due to the lack of bone. However, techniques were developed from the 1980s to increase the volume of bone in order to facilitate the placement

of dental implants. Today, many techniques and materials are available to predictably increase the volume of bone for such purposes. This course will look into the different bone
