EVENT BROCHURE
A Indian miitar and government personne are invited to attend free of charge
Warare is changing, perhaps more rapidly and undamentally today than at any point in
history. To take advantage o the ongoing RMA, India will need to reorm the way it plans,
thinks, procures, trains and fghts. Technology alone does not constitute RMA; it requires
synergy with organisation and doctrine. This can be achieved by training, innovation and
adaptation.

Taining philosophy
The joint doctrine o the 1.3 million-strong Indian Armed Forces and the service-specic doctrines
o the army, navy and air orce lay great emphasis on individual and collective training and technical
and HR development, taking into account the likely environment, technology, battleeld scenarios,
threat perception and internal security situations in the years ahead.
As the Indian Armed Forces modernise and induct new platorms and complex surveillance and
delivery means, the need to transorm training philosophy, modiy and improve the present training
inrastructure and methods, introduce new training technologies to save costs and get better
results in terms o skill sets and eciency has never been greater.
Over 50,000 young aspirants are drated into the Indian Armed Forces every year and put through
training o varying periods rom 20 to 65 weeks. Over 1,500 ocer cadets join our diferent colleges
or commission into the armed orces every year. Thousands o ocers undergo post-commission
training in 40 diferent institutions. At any one time, at least 6,000 ocers remain under training.

Simlated taining
Sustained training and a better grasp o next-generation equipment with new technologies is
required. Emphasis is on enhancement o technical levels, dual-trade training, multi-tasking and
training the trainers. Modern methods o training are being introduced with enhanced use o
simulators.
The army will continue to be deployed or ghting in sub-conventional operations in the
oreseeable uture. Thereore, desired capacities have to be built into the recruitment system,
training philosophy and methodology, training inrastructure in training academies, regimental
training centres, divisional training schools and schools o instruction to produce highly capable
ocers and soldiers to meet the uture warare challenges eciently.
The most cost-efective methodology or training is simulated training. This creates a realistic
environment to generate near-real responses to various contingences as well as handling ocomplex weapon systems, without the need to go outdoors and use operational equipment. It
also saves transportation costs and ammunition.
